Sold my Melb Red M3 for a Porsche (wife got a new daily driver too)
after 5 years in the awesome BMW family. i am somewhat sad to say that i no longer have my BMW.
i got a brand new e90 328i back when they first came out. kept the car for about a year and traded her in for an e92 M3 when it first came out in 2008. i just loved the way the e92s look, especially the Ms. brought the M to the track numerous times. i really loved it. she always performed like a charm. very forgiving on the track. very easy to drive at the limit. i changed wheels on the M numerous times. my favourite set up was with the 18" TE37SL rims, so i am posting pics with those rims. sold the M 1 month ago after i found the car of my dreams. i have always like the 997 GT3RS. i wished i could afford a 997.2 GT3RS but they are all out of my budget right now so i found a really well taken care of 997.1 GT3RS with 30k kms for a good price. the fact that its a relatively rare colour made the deal that much sweeter. already took the RS out for her first track outing. went to mosport with BMW trillium chapter. had an awesome time with the crowd over there. i was very slow for most of the weekend since mosport is not my home track and i was still trying to get used to the handling balance of a rear-engined car. on to pics...

with all this new car excitement, the wifey decided that she wants in on the action as well. so she sold her old nissan maxima and traded it in for an 09 WRX STI. its her first stick shift car so she's still getting used to it but so far she's liking it a lot. we've already taken the STI down to NYC for the long weekend a few weeks ago. it is pretty comfortable and fast and it can carry a crap load of shopping (very useful for her).

as for M3 vs my 997.1 RS. i think the m3 is very forgiving to drive - even when you reach the limits of the car. its very easy to do controlled drifts on the m3 but the same cant be said on the RS. i was pushing the car on the track at mosport and i went beyond the limit of the car. the back end let go completely and i spun out on the track. good thing i didnt damage anything and no one was too close behind me. its definitely not easy to recover the car from a big drift once you start to lose it. the m3 is very much more forgiving in this respect. as for the Green RS, there are only 4 997.1 RS in that color in canada so i guess it makes it pretty rare. thanks!

yeap, she needed quite a bit of convincing at first since she has never owned a manual car but now that she's used to it, i think she's happy with the car. its packs quite a strong little punch once the turbo kicks in.
