M5 seems to be an unbelievable car but it's big and gawdy. Doesn't fit my life so no thanks. F80 M3 would probably suit me better if I weren't so in love with my S65.

I hear you re the size but gaudy? You thinking of a yellow Vette? I cannot think of a 100k car less gaudy than the M5. Black out the side vents and it's about the most subtle way one can roll around in with a stock 560bhp under their right foot.

In a word, no.

In several words, if performance is more important to you than luxury is, why switch it up? Sure, the M5 has more horsepower, and is faster, but your M3 is a surgical scalpel vs. a sledgehammer. Which would you prefer your doctor to use?

I just wish it wasn't so freakin' huge. Seriously, why are cars getting bigger and bigger. Think about the performance AND better fuel economy you could get if the car was smaller and lighter. I like the M5, and it was always one of my dream cars, but it is just too big. I personally think the size of the e39 M5 was just right.

I checked out an M5 in Singapore gray. Personally, I'd have more fun driving my M3, it's more tossable and sporty feeling/looking. The M5 is more luxurious, easier to get in and out of, more roomy and faster. Stock for stock, I prefer the M5 exhaust note. The M3 engine noise sounds better though. If I was over 50 yrs old I'd probably favor the M5. Right now it feels and looks too mature for me.

Keep the M3 as the M5 is too big. Just throw a blower on the M3 and then you'll have more power than the M5 and cost less too!

No, it is huge. It's huge and porky, and it doesn't hide it at all. I can tell you one thing though, we just got a black one in and I moved it around a bit today, it pulls like a freight train in a straight line. For me, I prefer the M3. More agile, more nimble, more engaging.

Hmmm.. if I had the money... question for u, how old r u? I have seen some 40+ yr olds driving m3, and it don't look right. I think if u in that age category, m5 would suit u better. If not, then SC the m3 and ull have all the power u ever need

A lot of 40+ people drive M3's, myself included. Please explain what "don't look right" about it? Now....a modded Sti with a big wing on the back may not look appropriate with a middle aged person in it, but a high performance BMW? What do you think is the age demographic that can easily afford a $70k car?

And why exactly would an M5 suit me better? I have a Porsche Cayenne for anything that I would need an M5 for, minus the nuclear acceleration.

^agreed. I'd say 99% of the people I see in M3's are prob over 40. A high end sport/luxury car is typically not available to the younger demographic.
