The OE pads are pretty good all things considered. Not excellent at anything though. I found the OE pads to do OK on a not so brake heavy track.
I think Chriszeh demonstrated that the OE brake system cannot withstand high heat and repeat abuse.

I thought I demonstrated the opposite. Pads get used but the rotors are pretty durable. I do also have apex gt4 ducts.

The rotors were said to be 1mm above the minimum spec. Not sure if that's a huge amount, but hoping to do away with that extra mm within the next 4K miles. |

I think mine are all original (53K miles). No track work (yet). My rotors do have a significant lip though.

1mm is a significant amount. The difference between new and minimum thickness is 2mm so you are halfway.

Well, some of you guys might not believe this, but mine has now 120K and I still have original pad and rotor.
First of all, I drive mildly and I think 6MT slow down the car fast if I let go of the throttle. Second reason is that large portion of the mileage is from multiple cross country trips between Los Angeles and North Carolina. Matter of fact, I think 90% of my mileage is from Highway driving when I am on a long distance trip. I drive a truck most of the time. Recently, I asked the dealer if I need the tune-up, but they said that the engine is running OK so the spark plug is the original also. Last edited by Comped Ego; 10-17-2012 at 07:31 AM. |

![]() But, the mileage just piled up. I guess. Correction: I did not remember, but service record showed that the spark plugs were changed once at 36K miles. I took it to dealer and inquire about the spark plug service and a technician said 'I am not sure why no one mentioned about this' 'Let's go ahead and change it this time'. ![]() Estimate: Spark plug service: $577 Oil Change: $158 Injection and induction cleaning: $179 With respect to the brake, he just shrugged and said 'it is highly unusual for the original brake to last this long, but should expect that you would need new one within next 10K. ![]() |

For the record, my front pads at 56k miles. Replaced due to dust and noise issues but definitely had plenty of life left. Moderate street driving, no track use.
