GT-R in 14 months, it's like clock work. Actually, If I were the 'spoiled brat" I would take the car that was purchased in cash, put it as a down payment on a much faster car, like a GT-R or 911

For me the car was a result of not only what people on here commonly call "good grades" (which is actually effectively remaining focused in college, actually using your time there to find what you want most out of live, and not getting caught up in the excitement of being a young rebellious kid), but also 7 years of a clean driving record, and exhibiting responsibility about driving all along the way. I have no doubt that my parents will NOT be contributing to my efforts at buying my next car or my first house. All of the mods on my car have come from my own pocket. Like I said all cases are different though. My family has not always been able to afford nice BMWs, so we are not accustomed to thoughtlessly spending money like someone might who has older money. I was also raised very humbly, and even as we became wealthier, my parents kept me down to Earth. That is one lesson that I know for sure I'll be taking when I raise kids of my own. I hope this helps. |

Protecting your child is one thing, spoiling them is another. If they earn the money to buy the car and work hard, they can get whatever they want. If you give them a free car, they will just think everything is free in the future as well. Unless as a parent you want to support them your whole life, you can't give them things that aren't earned. |

No I definitely understand you on that front. For me, the M3 has always been my dream car since I was old enough to play with Matchbox cars, and I've always been obsessed with cars in general. I know at some point in my life I'm going to want a P car, but like many of you guys on here, I think I'm setting myself up to the point where I will be able to afford it in the future. It's all about controlling your own expenses. At the same time, when I say that this is a car I want to keep forever, I truly mean that. I think a lot of people will jump ship to a faster F30/32, but I can say I honestly plan on keeping this car, whether driven or garaged, forever. |

I have no problem with rich people or kids. This is America and they have every right to spend their money. I'd much rather see this than the idiots who continue to leech off of our taxpayer money and do nothing. That being said my only issue is it is still poor judgement to give a kid this much HP at such a young age. Experience does count and it's just like playing with fire. He can kill himself for all I care but his recklessness might hurt others which is why it becomes something that we can all share concern with.

I have no questions regarding your recklessness or being spoiled or irresponsible. The question is do you have any girls your age that you can hook me up with? You said ask anything!

Wow, lots of new posts since last night. I'm not going to argue with you guys, but I simply don't agree with giving a 16yr old a 60k car. Clearly I'm on a loosing side with this, so I kindly accept your opinions, but respectfully disagree with many of you on this.
Thank you all. |

A good friend of mine that I met in college his parents literally spoiled the living crap out of him that in turn has affected him in a negative way.
His parents bought him a new house at the age of 30 for a birthday present. He had a mercedes, bmw, etc. Going through cars left and right when we were going to undergraduate together. He was missing classes, slept till 12pm at the age of 30.. Totally lazy and did not know the value of anything. Now his parents aren't so rich and he had to sell his house and now he is living in an apartment just getting by. His parents still pay for his car payment and help him out, but he is 36 years old now! Few years old I helped him get a job at a old company that I used to work for. Spoiling your kids too much will have a HUGE negative impact on their future. Seeing what happened to my friend I will NEVER spoil my kids in that kind of way. I on the other hand was poor during our University life had the same car for almost 10 years during highschool/college and even after college. Now I sense my friend is little jealous of me because I bought a new house and M3 all within two years of each other.

How can you say that this 23 yo will have a shitier car since his parents will not buy him one anymore. For all we know he will do good in life that he can buy himself a bugati on his 30th birthday. Serriously I think after a parent have raised and spent the last 16years with his or her kid, I think they should be able to tell if that kid can handle a car like that. my oldest is 13 now, when he was 11 he earned his first car, crx. Few weeks later I bought him a swap for xmass. He learned how to drive that car. (parking lot at work) I think he would be responsible enough to drive my M3. On the other hand my 8 year old boy, I can see him being trouble around cars (probably took after me). He wont be getting anything fast when he gets a license. |

Who cares, maybe the kid is responsible. You don't know he isn't.
If I can afford it, my kid will get it. (That is, if i feel he's mature enough) Of course 16 is a bit young...but props to him! |
