Would this also include a second tune that had the more sensitive throttle mapping a la the "Sprint" product?

Is the software the latest 231EE or 24x version that's been mentioned elsewhere on the boards as the absolute latest?

For those folks not yet on 231EE, c/would a separate tune/stock file be available with just the STOCK software, along with a TUNED version of 231EE? If say one wanted to compare the latest stock software and tuned software?

And lastly, more for curiosity's sake rather than being a deal breaker - could this cable also be used for coding (i.e. windows up/down with key fob) given one had the appropriate coding software?

"Hi Salman,

as you had so much effort with me and my tunes I really want to say thank you and provide feedback.
a) This tune really pulls hard. Even my butt-dyno can feel it.
b) It kills all torque drops with the Akrapovic
c) Had this tune loaded on my e92 during last weekend on the Nordschleife.
Did nearly 70 laps over the days and had 0.0 issues with it!

Mostly I drove the car with 102 Oktane Aral SuperPlus "Uktimate 102"
but also had to fill it up with "normal" Super Plus 98 (US 93 Octane equivalent) which worked absolutely fine, too."

He posts infrequently on here. I'll see if I can get him to chime in.

Picture of the car.

Here he is doing a hot lap.

Thanks but racing around the ring in Germany with race gas or 93 octane is very different and cannot be compared to tracking in California.

For example it was 110F degrees this past weekend at Autoclub speedway. 113F at Chuckwalla. You get my point. Lukester and other ring goers don't have to worry about heat like we do here.

Also we use US 91 octane.

Petrol here is 98RON/94AKI (only 1 grade), so I'm curious if that makes a difference.

We removed the option of instant throttle as it wasn't that popular. You can request a more sensitive throttle map at the time of ordering and it can be incorporated into your tune.

231E is the latest that we have seen so far.

We would not supply separate tunes on separate firmware versions as part of the price. If you wanted to do this then we would have to price this up as it is double the work.

It does not offer coding at this time.

We have tuned a lot of M3's in CA - off hand I can't think of anyone that mentions they track their cars so I am unable to provide further information on this.

97-99 RON is widely used in Europe so we have tunes to suit your fuel grade.

What is the difference between the stage 1, stage 2 and stage 2 Akro Evolution? When I bring my car in for service, will the dealership reset my ECU to factory?

In basic terms:

Stage 1 is for stock car.

Stage 2 is for car with primary cat delete (with test pipes or other X Pipe)

Stage 2 Akra is developed specifically for the full Akra exhaust and the low end torque dip that is associated with it.

Sometimes they do sometimes they don't.

Looking for a honest answer, not just "I love my tune" from guys who don't track
I don't know how the tune effects temps on the track, since I never took the E90 to a local trick since getting tuned. I do know that in some of the crazy heat we've been going over the years, well above 100ºF, I purposely run it very hard on the high, hold it at high revs, do constant back to back WOT pulls to heavy brake to WOT pulls...the temps never really creep up to anywhere dangerous.

I think forum member, chriszeh, is on the west coast and tracks with the Evolve Stage 2. He may be able to share more, not sure what tracks he goes to though.

For what it's worth, I took my car twice to the dealer with my Stage 1 Tune and raised redline, they never questioned or asked anything...

Thanks. If dealership resets will I simply be able to remap the ECU again with your software without further cost?

When it says retains O2 readiness does that mean whe the car is plugged in at the inspection station it thinks it is good to go, like the cat is still there?

Question, not exactly the same as what andv1 asked but similar.

For folks that are not on the latest 231E yet, will you be able to provide just the 231E SW and a tuned version of 231E? I am not sure if there are extra work for this or not.

How adaptable will the tune be for CA folks? Let's say 90% of the time, I will be running with the crappy 91 octane that we have here. But occasionally, I might fill it up with 100 octane just to have some fun. Will the tune give extra power when filled with 100 octane or the tune will only be good for 91 octane?

Thanks in advance.

As far as the dealerships re-setting the ECU...my question is if they do, how will you know (besides the decrease in power which might be not be noticed if daily driving)? If i plug the system back in, will i tell me if my tune is still uploaded or if its back to factory settings?

Yes you get 231E and a tuned version of 231E.

You would need a separate tune to take advantage of 100 octane. The 91 octane tune is optimised for 91 octane.

Yes - you will see that the software version has changed if the dealer does an update.

Nice forum name BTW!

You are absolutely correct! They implemented this feature in the E46 M3 for quite some time and I will say that I saw first hand, a 100% MAF-less and catless E46 M3 pass OBDII Readiness Emissions in Illinois.

There was a lot of confusion among the E46 M3 guys, but it's important you leave your post-cat O2 sensors plugged into the wire loom! Some thought they could completely remove the whole sensor, which led to a misunderstanding and some slight problems.

You're making a great decision signing up for the Group Buy! The Evolve tune is the only modification I have on my E90 M3 and I don't feel like adding much more.
