Yes ass hole I am part of the 53% of that 91% that is 65 and up that has paid toward for those "entitlements" since I was 14 years old. Unlike the 20% on SSI that have never paid a damn thing or very little. When I have to go to the local Social Security office, I need to take a number. I sit there and I am the only person over 65+ in the room. When I ask the folks who take your information what gives. Their answer was they are just a glorified welfare office anymore. So until you get to my age don't take everything that Arloc Sherman, Robert Greenstein, and Kathy Ruffing says as fact. They spin a great story. And you search the internet until you find something that fits your idea of things.

Unlike those of us that are to old to invest in a 401 you have time to do so. I suggest instead of investing in a entry level BMW you place your funds into one and buy a Chevrolet instead.

As a "enthusiast" (you use that term loosely) you are not looking at the big picture of your life and retirement. That additional 16k difference from a Chevrolet in a 401 will make you several thousands by the time you retire in 20 years. With no SS waiting for you the prudent person would buy the Chevy.

BTW: look at my garage about choice of wheels. Also there is a 57 Bel Air and a 47 Chevy Sport Master Coupe in that same garage.

16K will turn into 'several thousands'......oh BOY!! I can afford the good cat food when I'm 80! Educate yourself about the failure of the 401k plan to provide adequate retirement savings.

I bet in addition to your SS, you draw money from a private pension plan and more than likely have retiree medical supplemental insurance from a prior employer. You old guys have it easy, both during your careers and in retirement.

I know of at least 3 true BMW enthusiasts who got rid of their e92 or e92 M3s within 12 months of acquiring them.....about the only true M car right now is the 1M....now THAT's an enthusiast's dream car!

I'd at least get the 135, not the 128. I know a few who have the 135 and say it's quite fun. Something about that N54. The N52 just seems slow to me, and I have driven the 328. I know the 128 is lighter, but I am just not a fan of that engine. To each his own though..

I love my M3, but if I had the money I wouldn't be against trying out a 1M. They are just way too overpriced IMO. Dealers marked them up like crazy. Definitely understandable though since there are so fewer of them than the M3.

A 128 is quicker than any pre-2001 M3, and any pre-2006 3-series. Many of us who've owned the older models are perfectly happy with the performance, especially with 6 speeds and valvetronic. Plus, to some of us, real BMWs don't have turbos. It's the linear power delivery, combined with superior steering/ braking feel, that defines a BMW.

Good thing you weren't around when sports car enthusiasts were driving MGs, Triumphs, and Alfas. You'd have killed yourself.
