MSARs and AUGs can be had with left or right ejection bolts. Simple dust cover change, and voila. Your excuse is no longer valid!!

Totally forgot about that.

How is the reliability? I've heard some issues with feeding and not cycling with weaker rounds. But that's hit or miss depending on the reviewer.

I've had no problems with mine, but I've always shot decent ammo from mine. No steel cases stuff, MSAR advises against it.

If you are just getting into the AR-15 platform, I would strongly recommend buying a complete rifle so you can familiarize yourself with the platform.

Now . . .

What's the purpose of the rifle?

If you are planning on shooting clods of dirt once or twice a year with it, buy a S&W Sport and call it a day. For $739, it is a great value. Would I stake my life on it? Absolutely not. Would I use it as a range plinker? Sure!

If you are intending to utilize the rifle as a defensive weapon or if you are planning to shoot extensively with it (i.e., hundreds of rounds weekly, at the least) then buy a Colt 6920. It is the "Gold Standard" of AR-15 rifles. They can had between $1,000-$1,200. Absolutely incredible value. The downside is that due to high demand, it is tough to find a 6920 in stock.

Not to piss in your cheerios but the Plum Crazy plastic lowers are absolute crap that are susceptible to catastrophic failure.

And for me, I would rather have a bare-bones, high-quality rifle that runs like it should in lieu of a cheap piece of crap that happens to look "tacti-cool." Just my 2 cents on the matter. It's your money. Do as you please my friend. Only offering my advice as a response to your initial request for information.

Yeah I've looked it up on the internet after I bought it and was pretty disappointed but I was looking for something cheap and I guess I got it . This is my first rifle and something to learn from. The parts can always be changed out and upgraded right?

Yeah it is used about 2 years old. I was thinking about taking it apart and building it back up with newer parts or freshen up some old ones with paint but this is my first rifle so I don't know anything about that stuff. Thanks to the internet I think i got the idea. This is not for self defense or anything, just another toy. The only time i might pull it out is if there's a zombie outbreak.

I would recommend a quality lower which wont cost you much. My guys at Addax tactical here in california make great lowers for a great price. Maybe you can order one and swap out the parts.

Anyone have any opinions on the Bushmaster M4 A2/A3?

I've been thinking about getting my first rifle so I'm not sure what to consider, but I've read positive things about the Bushmaster M4. I won't be hunting with it. Just for home protection to go along with my handgun.

Are there other brands I should consider for a first rifle?

And regarding your dealings with Lanbo's, that's pretty damn impressive! I have found that generally, customer service in the firearms/firearms gear industry is top-notch.
The aimpoint is pretty impressive. I haven't gotten to shoot with it but i love how it sturdy that mount is and it's very easy to operate. I'm glad i have the flip up rear and front sites now. With that POS red dot i had on there before i would always have to keep the iron sites flipped up due to the lack of reliability of the red dot. Now it appears that i can keep them flipped down and stay on target. Not to mention change it between both of my ARs. I'm eager to see if they both are close to zero since they are identical flat top uppers. One is a colt 6920 and the other is a colt HBAR A3. They at least appear to be identical, i didn't get out the calipers though.

I thought the amipoint was going to obstruct more of my view, but it barely obscures anything in my field of view. Super easy to keep both eyes open when using it.

Still need to get some pics up....

I disagree with this. I think the Sports have proven they are very reliable. The lack of a dust cover is a non issue for someone asking these kinds of questions, and the forward assist is also unnecessary IMO.

Personally I think the Sport to be a very good entry rifle and very reliable. They wouldn't offer a life time warranty on it if it weren't.

Poor lighting but this is my RRA LAR15 with EOTech 512 and Grip Pod.
