OEM Black Ipod cable

All,

I'm on Tischer (www.getBMWparts.com) looking for the oem Black IPOD cable... looks like a y split with usb and 3mm plug..

My question to everybody is will it charge Iphone 4S, newest gen Ipod touch? I was reading somewhere that you have to buy the black oem PLUS another cable to boost the power output as the power output is too low to charge Iphones 4(s)....

I have the cable, but to be honest, the white apple USB works way better. You get album art with it, and I'm pretty sure it charges as well.

Interesting... So, if you use the white, you can only control the iDrive throughout the phone? I want to make sure that when I connect the cables, I can forward, backward, vol up and down without having to do it manually on my iPod Touch..

Absolutely, you can do it all through the white cable. I don't even know where my black cable is.

White cable only works for card equipped with the combox. Combox started w/ Sept '10 production... Before 9/10, you need the Y cable.

White cable only works for card equipped with the combox. Combox started w/ Sept '10 production... Before 9/10, you need the Y cable.

Yes, skip the OEM part and use your regular white apple usb cord. My 2011.5 charges my 4s with it.

EDIT: Did not read all the way down. My has the combox.

how can i proove which one i have. dealer gave us y split that i dont like audio quality with. i bet white only shall sound better. can i figure out from my vin number?

You can audibly detect that the quality is bad? How does it sound... muted sorta?
