What mic do you use for GoPro2?
Hi, i have been looking around for a mic for my GoPro2. The catch is that it should have a long cable that i can extend it all the way to the exhaust area thru the trunk. The idea is to tape it on rear bumper to reduce wind speed and capture the cars sound. I thought about the "audio technica pro 24cm" but i dont think it extends that far. Any inputs and videos would be helpful
Thanks

I have the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 also. It has long cord and will easily make it to the rear bumper. Works great also!

Yep, got my GoPro mounted below the front bumper and the sound is awesome. Augments my Contour cam mounted to the side window.
But, if I were to use one cam only, and wanted to position it to see my hands, then yeah, these mic's would come in handy.

Yeah but it would be nice that an added mic be better than what's already on the camera. I understand how you're trying to use it but it would be nice to have something versatile.

true, i looked into audio technica 24cm, but you need to add wind protection (the furry thing) and also get an extention cord which adds up to 120+, this one can be a cheaper alternative to try.

Here is a video taken with the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone (~$25). It comes with a 20 foot long cable that I routed from my front grille all the way to my trunk. I'm using a GoPro Hero2 attached to a bracket on my front license plate holder.
For normal street driving, I simply leave the microphone in the trunk and the connector hidden inside the front grille. When I'm at the track, I mount the GoPro on the front bracket, hook-up the connector and run the cable out of the trunk and tape the mic inside the rear bumber via the tow hook hole. I lost the foam that came with it so the video is using the mic with nothing to reduce wind noise. It probably would be even better if I put something on the mic for the wind noise. For ~$25 and some labor to route and hide the cable, I'm pretty happy with the results... |

Just ordered mine before i saw your video. I was hoping for a louder sound since the mic is right next to the exhausts...i am thinking if i can somehow place it under the hood without melting the cable
do you have any images on how you ran the cables and where exactly you attached the mic?It seems like i have to change it up every session until i get it right.

do you have stock exhaust? it sounds so much different than what you actually hear inside the car.
did you use the wind noise cancelling cloth thing that came with the mic?

No not stock. I have HFC, Xpipe, and mufflers. The recorded sound is very much like what it sounds like in person outside of the car.

![]() I have a cheap mic that I attach to the screen on the rear bumper. It sounds good but I do get some distortion. Will definitely get the Audio Technica |

Here is mine using this mic :http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cg...item/SP-BMC-21
Its really 2 modified ATR3350 (didnt know when I purchased it), so I wouldnt really suggest it. Both mics mounted in the trunk. Going to mount one in the engine bay and one in the trunk next time around. |
