searching for 10w 60 wtf

I've had my car for about six months. My display said add 1 quart yesterdyaso today on the way to work now its not even giving me a reading.i reluctantly drove to work like that but now every where i look they don't have it. Is this stuff only at the dealership and online? If so i gotta leave my car at work tonight till the dealer opens tomorrow.

Garage List
Buy two quarts at the dealer and always keep an extra quart in the trunk just in case.

There have been several threads on this in the past, but I think the OEM stuff you can only find at the dealer or online (like at turnermotorsports).

I found a dealer that had a pretty fair price in my area and I bought 3 bottles to have on hand.

A word of advice, when you refill do it in at most 500cc increments, then recheck your level. My car told me I was 1 quart low, and when I filled it with 500cc and rechecked I was at the max. If only we had a dipstick...

Are you out of warranty? If not the dealership will add whatever oil is needed for free usually and even give you an extra quart to have if you ask.

You can drive it home. Just avoid hard cornering or revving it.

It holds 8 freakin' quarts. Don't worry about it unless you plan to run the banking at Daytona. That's about the only place i can think of where being a quart low might have an effect. Low oil level does not stress the engine in any way.

I wish this was the case for me, unfortunately my dealership goes by the letter of the warranty, which doesn't cover burning oil.

Pg 208 Alternate oil types...personally I wouldn't sweat it though. I'd just take it home & top it off tomorrow.

That sux. Technically it should be covered under the included services not the warranty. Oil changes are covered till 50,000 miles or 4 years. But I guess every dealership is different. Cheap asses!

Is the Castrol Edge the same thing as the TWS 10-60?

+1

Being down a quart is not as big a deal as it is made out to be....... Just add a quart of oil within a few days and everything will be fine. It is not like you have to shut your car down to avoid engine damage!

They are the same oil, just be sure to confirm it's Edge and not Edge Sport which is inferior.

if you are really stressed, read owners book about how BMW says short term use of other oils ok to top off with. Think Mobile 1 is on approved list.

I'd rather run a quart low and than quart over.
