MSR: “All open cars, including convertibles, must have a roll bar, except for touring laps.” *Roll Over Protection System “You and your passengers are assured of a robust and protective occupant cell, even if your Convertible or Roadster overturns, thanks to the roll-over protection system. Within a fraction of a second, your safety is enhanced by additional head protection. Together with the highly rigid A columns and reinforced windscreen frames of every BMW Convertible or Roadster model, the roll-over protection system creates a safe "occupant cell" should the vehicle overturn. Roll-over sensors activate special high-strength roll-bars that are integrated in or behind the seats, ensuring there is sufficient clearance for occupant's heads in the event of an accident. The integrated seatbelt system ensures that you and your passenger are restrained firmly in your seats.” http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...rotection.html So, grab your helmet and drive with the top down! We will do a couple of extra parade laps. We'll have the lead driver to drive the correct line so that everyone gets a slow feel for the track in the reverse direction..........Phil

Its pretty much the same going CCW. The only tricky part is the Diamond's edge. There's a kink to the right. At first you'll want to slow down on the straight and work your way up to a brush of the brakes.
For the sweeper (T9), beginners should late apex. More advanced drivers can kind of creep in from the left edge with a light brush of the brakes. There's camber on the inner half of the track. Then you need to get on the brakes hard into the bus stop. Gut check is flat out then brake hard into T16. You can run really wide past the rumble strips to scrub off more speed if you want to be safe. Be sure to late apex T17. If you early apex, don't lift. Don't be a hero, just go off the track if you go into a spin. The car will shoot towards the inside of the track...unless you initiate a tank slapper...then who knows. The only way you'll hit the wall is if you: a) drive straight into it b) are being a total jackass c) try and save it, oscillate down the track

Is there room for me to include a plus one? He'd be bringing a 650i and he's run MSR in a Risi 430 GT2 car before. I just wanted to check before I extend the invite.

Yeah go for it......I would like to see a 650i on the track. When I owned mine I thought it was super heavy and would be a pig on the track........Phil

Any opinions on if running CCW is harder on right side or left side tires?
I’ve been running CW @ TWS the last couple of events and that has worn the tread blocks to the point that if I was running CW there again I would flip the tires on the wheels. Running MSRH CCW has us going through the Carousel and Gut Check with a lot of load on the left with only the Sweeper and 16-17 being the faster left hand turns. So which side will get more wear? |

Not sure. Going CW, you'd think your outer left tire would get worn more but...with the conti slicks...I always corded the right tire first. I think the carousel was doing them in.

I'm thinking the wear is fairly even because MSR isn't all right hand or all left hand. I would say keep an eye on the tire pressure......especially in this heat. I usually run 32psi cold and have had good results. That's on PS2'2 and R-S3's..............Phil

Can't give Moose that credit... many of us have been e46m fans for a long while. Once the track bug got me. I couldnt justify dedicating a $65k+ car for the track. Next best thing... an e46m. Though yes, his car is a great example.

It was great to see such a fine example of corded-tire understeer given by an on-course instructor! Plus, the helmet-cam video I have of the fresh-cut daisies flying over the hood is priceless. ![]() After that, I said to myself, "Heck, I can do THAT!" So now, I'm in! ![]()

I'm already nervous about bringing the 330 out. I've leaked every kind of fluid except washer fluid. Well, not quite but I've been beating my car down much to the shagrin (sp?) of the guy who rebuilt my engine.
