Valentine1 Hardwire E92, no sunroof

Slightly different install if anyone is interested.

See this thread for most of the info...
Valentine 1 E90 Post Installation on an E90

Major Differences:

1. I do not have a sunroof, so there is no 10mm bolt for ground. Bought a proper sized metal bolt and attached ground wire with spade terminal. There was a hole in the metal already, no cutting or filing the metal was needed to make a good connection. Worked first time.

2. I didn't solder anything, just cut the wire, cleaned the end, twisted it and squeezed it into the slot with the green/white wire combo. Then zip-tie to make sure it stays put. That was super easy part.

3. I installed to the right side of the rear-view mirror. It's a tight spot but just fits perfectly and out of the way of my line of sight.
Super clean install and totally reversible. No routing of calbes needed and all interior trim stayed intact except for the roof cluster that popped right out.
Enjoy

I like the location the V1 is in. Do you have any experience on how it affects the performance of the V1. I'd expect it not to hurt performance for radar but maybe a little bit for laser. Tell me I'm wrong about laser.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure they already voted against the repeal. I hope I'm wrong.

thanks, the location is perfect...only need to look up if it goes off.

Would it hurt performance? I'm not sure it would affect it at all, higher is better although the mirror attachment to the left of it may block signals coming from the far left. Time will tell but most cops sit on the right shoulder so it should be fine.

no offense meant to the original poster, but it's much easier and non-invasive to use a fuse tap method to hardwire a V1. the total install time is like 5 minutes too. i don't know why people insist upon hardwiring like this post, which seems to be pretty common.

The OP is over two years old. You snooze, you lose.

I have a coupe with CF roof and I ran the wire across the headliner, down the A-pillar (behind the trim) and behind the glove box where the fuze box is and tapped into fuze block number 5 for power. Looks slick. Hope it helps.

Cheers.
