Bay Area - Window Tint Recommendations (no vinyl/glue)

So after a lot of searching, it seems most installers use vinyl to cover the dot matrix area. I'm hoping to find a tinter who can do a good job installing the tint w/o needing to use vinyl or glue. I read that the installer can torch the outside of the window to aid adherence?

I'm going with a light 50% tint and so don't think the contrast with the vinyl will look good. Any recommendations and pics of a tint-only install?
