the quest for better sounding factory exhaust

So yesterday I went on a quest to find a shop to do the oem exhaust mod. Little did I know this would be difficult. I went to a known good muffler shop and they told me that 1) it is impossible to do with the stock exhaust 2) that a costom exhaust would be the best option and 3) the only good way to get more sound is to cut out the resonators... I told the muffler guy that this has been done many times before and he said I didnt know what i was talking about, so I left and continued on my way. The next shop I went to didn't even want to touch my car because its a BMW and wouldn't want to fuck up my exhaust. The technician there told me my best bet was to but an aftermarket exhaust and that he would put it on for $84. So my question is 1) Are there any shops in eastern North Carolina that would do the mod or anywhere near there and 2) Tuff it out and wait to pen close to 2k on an exhaust?
Lux v3, IND, V1 Hardwire, ZHP lighted shift knob, Megan Racing Axel Back, Custom race x-pipe, MS filter, Arkym Diffuser, OEM Carbon Lip Spoiler, and still more to come.

Do the mod, its amazing for its price. Just print a lot of pictures and take them to anu exhaust shop, they should be able to do it without any problem. It helps if they have done it before for sure.

Well, I was in the same problem and was willing to drive to NJ to have this done BUT found a place. I think if you really want it, increase your search radius or be willing to drive somewhere where you can get this done. It helps if you send the muffler guys the DIY page with pics. Good luck OP.
