Do you really think there is an improvement in mpg, or is it an overly optimistic estimate?

I'll be able to tell you for sure in a week. I'm still at 3/4 tank and I do not want to extrapolate the numbers or trust the iDrive display just yet.

I do have to say though, the mpg on the display dropped quick as soon as the car began to adapt. Still though, I'm fairing good. It might also be attributed to the fresh oil and tranny fluid.

EDIT: Figured it out on google. Looks like i have the latest software (unless this list is old).

http://www.bmwicom.net/wp-content/up...vs_progman.pdf

My car is at the dealer and I asked them what software I have. They said...

Integration level = E89X-10-12-503

Integration level dealer = E89-12-03-502

What does this mean to me?

Don't worry!

A new integration level doesn't necessarily mean that there is an update for your car. It could be an update for any of the other cars that BMW makes.

As an example, if there was no update between 46.3 and 46.5, when they plug in, it would simply upgrade the integration number without actually doing any programming.

From 42.1 to 46.3, the only thing changed in my car were the Navi, CAS, and DME.

From what you have to 46.5, I don't think you have anything to worry about

Hmmm, I'm headed to the dealer in a few weeks for a schedule service. I'm going to inquire about this again.

The last time I was there, they had no idea what I was talking about, haha.

I'm getting my car programmed tomorrow to the lastest update. I'll get a dyno and have my ESS reflashed again with the new software. Let's test this theory.

Does anyone know if this software update will erase your LCI tail lights update? My car didn't come with the LCI tail lights and had the car re-programmed to accomadate it.

Depends on how the lights were coded, the year of the car, and the chassis.

If the proper values were added to the vehicle order, you should be ok (and they should have been with a 2010 E92).

Depends on if your M3 originally came equipped with a FRM2 or FRM3 module, they started appearing mid 2010.

If wiped out, its confirmed you have FRM2.

Thanks Mike. All I know is they used the autologic to program the LCI.

Thanks mike for updating my dme yesterday... I only have about 60 miles on new dme software and I can see mpg increase ... That's cool I guess lol... I hit it a couple of times to redline and it feels better as in less engine lag... So far very very happy with new dme update
