Which Exhaust system?

There is a little devil sitting on my shoulder whispering tales of upgrades for my Sparkling Graphite e92 M3 .

He is thinking a new exhaust system.

You Guys that have tried out a few, which systems are recommended? "Most sportcar sound"? Lightest weight? Enabling highest performance increase etc.? I know the answers of these questions are of the subjective art, however, I would be great full for any thoughts, experiences, ideas etc.

With that said, I would definitely be interested in 2nd hand business suggestions!

Regards

Andreas

Search, and then do done more searching... This comes up on a regular basis.

Look for the reviews done by "kitw" , I think everyone will agree that they are some of the most detailed and accurate reviews performed.

There are only 2 options... Akrapovic and Eisenmann. Everything else is sh!t, and anybody who says otherwise is lying and/or retarded. Just keeping it real and simple for you.

Eisenmann has the best sound bar none... however the 'Race' version is loud and has some drone in the low rpms. The sound is simply fantastic, but might be a tad too loud especially in Sweden. In Germany I'd get pulled over probably every day.

The Akra is simply a work of art.... the best made exhaust on the planet. It is expensive (partially because it is made out of titanium), super light, and has a very nice sound. It is pretty civil, but has a nice deep tone, and gets loud at hight rpms. I think it is a very nice compromise when you keep your neighbors in mind. You have two choices with the Akra... the slip-on, or the full Evo version. The Evo version has high-flow cats that might be illegal in Sweden. Shit like that doesn't stop us here though. The full evo version is substantially louder than just the slip-on version, but still very civil when compared to the Eisenmann Race or Sport.

I had the Eisenmann Race with a cat-less Dinan x-pipe and the sound was simply awesome. I recently switched it up with the Akra, but kept the Dinan x-pipe. I'm very happy with that combo and sound.

Unless you go with a full exhaust no axle back (slip-on) will give you much (or any noticeable) power.

Hope that helps!

Viele Gruesse,
Philip

Ive had many exhausts for this car. Nothing sounds bad on it to be honest.

My Eisenmann Race was awesome, the Akra was the worst sounding exhaust Ive had, and my Tubi Rumore is on par with the Eisenmann Race except not as loud and no drone. I have it paired with a catless x pipe and it is very loud and has a pitch at 3+K RPMs that the eisenmann cant touch. Its very high pitched and sounds as "exotic" as Ive heard on this car short of a Kreis-Seig.

I love this combo too.

I could never deal with drone.

What sounds good to you is completely subjective. It's best for you to simply listen to all the options and make your decision.

That is the best and most honest advice I can give you.

yes videos do not do justice, i went from rpi gtm to ae it all depends on what type of sound and drone you are okay with, narrow it down to two and see if anyone local has one you can hear

Cant deny performance or aesthetics of either the Akra or Eisenmann. If you're looking for an exhaust with balls check out the Active Autowerke system as well.

Exhausts with balls look terrible IMHO....

Hey c'mon now I think my AA exhaust is pretty cool, too!

But SehrSchnell is right, Eisenmann and Akra are probably the two best quality ones. I personally don't care for Akra's sound, since it is too civil for me, but Eisenmann Race sounds SEXY! But it does drone at low RPM's. I haven't heard of Akra having drone, but it is super light and titanium and it is the best looking exhaust out there.

But about my experience with Active Autowerke's exhaust, I personally like the exotic sound it has. Deep growl that gets more high-pitched in higher RPM's. I think it is a pretty well-built system as well. And drone is very minimal, between 1500-2000 RPM. I'd say listen to all 3 in person from locals if you can before you jump the gun. And look on the classifieds for used systems. I bought mine new for over $2000, and a month later someone had their's up for sale for like $800

Good luck! Exhaust was definitely my best mod for every car I've had (although I haven't gone FI...yet )

Thanks a lot guys and especially to you Sehr Schnell...I think I stick to either the Eisenmann or the Acra, but will try to listen some live versions out during the summer. Especially Acra is big in Sweden now, so I don not think the 2x100c cats constitutes a legal issue. Another pro with one of the big names are the second hand market. Always easier to sell the car with a well known system mounted. However, Ive heard there could be problems with the engine lamp (that a Delete R would handle). Any one had problems with the engine lamp?

Just get a tune to take care of the CEL... I recommend the ESS (Akra) tune, it will wake up your car as well. The Akra-delete is fine too, but I always prefer a proper tune.
