Who said "few" and who said "illegal racing"? I suggested neither.
I've driven quite a bit on track.
Point was, it sucks to have your beast bested by a far lesser ride, regardless of marque/make.
Oh, and I owned a 335 previously. Incredible bang for the buck. As for the new '12 335...pass.

It's all about preference and a GT-R would've been considered had it come equipped with a manual tranny, But there will always be a faster car out there and modding can negate any car's stock performance.

well if you have been at any tighter tracks you will know that a lot of lesser cars as in lesser weight will make you feel pretty bad about the m3. try a spec miata or something of the sort.

When people use the term, "walk", either they're talking quarter mile or street. Very seldom do I hear that lingo for track/course racing. Maybe, " overtaken" etc.

Yes it does but the point is that even the most traditional stick only sports car will soon be offering a paddle option. I think Ferrari is all paddle and Lambo is mostly. The days of a heel toe are coming to a close.

No doubt manual is more involving and more fun, but on the track, DCT is king. As well as in the 1/4 mile.

Probably, but IMO the ultimate goal is still to have the most fun , not to be the fastest !

Most people who post here have never even been to a track. I bet they haven't heard of spec miata

From a dig foool!!!

Regarding the GT-R and Transmission and what not.

Here are my thoughts:

I think it would have been foolish for Nissan to equip or allow for a manual option in the GT-R, it would go against their entire purpose, they are building a cutting edge car. To equip it with old technology would be foolish.

From a performance aspect, launching an AWD car is not easy, knowing this alone (From Nissan's perspective) it would be an easy choice to NOT provide a manual option. Dual Clutch technology also provides a SIGNIFICANT advantage over it's American competition.

I personally don't think you can ding the GT-R or Nissan for not offering a manual option.

At least with a manual , you could launch as much as you want without being afraid that you might brake your tranny wich is not covered anymore by the warranty since you disactivated the VDC to do a perfect launch! To me a cutting edge car is a car with a tranny strong enough to use its launch mode!

Also, there's nothing hard in launching a AWD car, specially one with that much power! I've seen plenty of people having no trouble doing great launchs with Audi A4s 1.8t with big laggy turbos, those could be a challenge but a GT-R, not!

Finally , IMO , manual gearbox is not old technology, it's fun technology!

I wasn't suggesting you buy one. I was indicating that you will get your ass handed to you by one on the track.

You will see the light one day - at the end of the day, I think the GT-R is an amazing car, with the combination of performance and price, it would be hard to argue otherwise.
