Anyone use a non OEM tranny or diff fluid?
My car is out of warranty now so I'm wondering if I should use OEM or aftermarket (Royal Purple, ect..) type oils. Anyone have any experience with aftermarket fluids? Are there any pros or cons to not using OEM? Should I use OEM?
Thanks, Nick

what got me thinking about it is that in my nsx,my mechanic (an nsx specialist who worked for acura for many years, had special nsx training from them, and who works on a number of nsx's now on a regular basis) recommends gm syncromesh for the mtl,and the car shifts beautifully.

that makes sense, and i'll stick w/oem,just good to know if there's a consensus among knowledgeable owners for something different.

I know of a number of people who use non-OEM fluids in their engine, transmission, differential, and brake systems with no complications whatsoever. In fact, a few reported improved results with their manual transmissions when they switched fluids, which is something that can readily be felt. A friend of mine has had oil analysis done to his oils both OEM and aftermarket, and tells me that his reports show marked improvement on the non-OEM fluids. Just food for thought, though I personally don't blame anyone for wanting to stick with OEM fluids, peace of mind is invaluable.
