How does the M3 line up with an older model F430 Spyder.

I heard from a fellow M3 owner, who was late to an event, and it was early in the morning, that they are about equal in straightline performance...

(obviously, I also heard how amazing the F430's exhaust sounds at speeds in excess of posted signs)

F430 Spyder is still good amount faster than an M3. I think the difference in trap speed alone is prob 4-5 mph at a minimum. F430 Spyder is not much slower than an F430 coupe.

Ran against the coupe, you can search for my post in this forum. He was faster, significantly. I don't expect the results to be very different against the spider...

Do you have DCT?

Maybe you're talking about the Ferrari 360 Modena? 1999-2003? F430 is faster.

I have DCT, could be that he was just driving slower than the car's potential - actually that is probably just it.

F430 by the numbers is faster, yes had the faster car. It was an F430. And certainly an amazing sounding car. But for some reason I was definitely pulling on him during our "haste".

There's no comparison between the two but the F430 is better every which way you look at it. Perhaps the M3 only beats the F430 in the comfort and DD sections of a comparison.
