Level Sensor
Anyone know what this sensor is responsible for? It is located on the rear suspension. Also would it have to be coded if it needed to be replaced?

Headlight aiming sensor and I doubt it would need to be coded (it's not a control module). A simply plug and play should be all you need. How did you break it?

Yeah I just found some info on it, thanks. Wondering if there's anything else that it does or is it solely for the headlights?

the parts catalog calls it "Headlight vertical aim control sensor", so I'd think that's what they are used for. Also if they are used for any type of dynamic control, BMW would have placed one at each wheel, instead of one per axle.

Thank you. RealOEM only lists it as a level sensor.

Can you guys elaborate a little more as of the location of that sensor, I just did a spring install and my headlights are now between high beams and low beams. If you guys have a photo of it as of where it sits, it would be great.

It is very easy to break that arm when doing spring/damper/coilover installs, if you forget to undo that 8mm nut. So, if you did the install yourself, and don't know where that sensor is, it's possible you damaged it. If you want to re-aim your headlights, there is a large white plastic philips screw on the back of each headlight unit. |
