I haven't tried this but here is an option:

Be sure to always bring a quart of oil. Both times I went on a road trip with the wife and daughter I got the "+1 quart"... One more reason she hates the car.

This is much more likely than a flat and it's much easier to resolve. I keep a quart in the trunk, just in case.

Great way to think of it!

If you are worried about it get a jack, a wrench and a spare tire and take it along.
We took my bud's E46 M3 from NJ to Florida, didn't have a single issue.

Yes I do! good idea

Roadside assistance..will the plug a flat or just get it towed to a dealer?

Once you know which tire is flat, put all of your luggage and passengers at the opposite corner. This should keep the flat off the ground until you reach a shop.

Eeeewww! I might get a flat. Grow some cajones dude. These cars are engineered for 24 hours of Le Mans. From the sounds of it, I don't think your style of driving is going to hurt the car.

I'm pretty curious about the roadside assistance for flats as well. I won't need it but still some information I'd like to know. I just use my AMEX for whenever I need roadside assistance since its free and comes with the card. :P

I actually just made a 1300mile trip to Arizona from Louisiana. At times I wish I brought the M3 but seeing the front end of my after the drive being littered with bugs, I'm glad I didn't. That and the Volvo got way better gas mileage.

I'd wager over 1/2 the miles I have on mine is from road trips. Love taking the M when I go.

Of course.

Living in a place like where I am, with these magnificent views and places to hang out, there is no way I leave the car at home.

The best road trip I did, along with my family, was a 2000km trip across Spain in 2008, from Málaga to Andorra and back, where we spent a magnificent week there. The 7er sure is a devourer of kilometers, and I know the M3 will not dissapoint me either in this matter.

As I said earlier, living here, in the coast, and more in La Costa del Sol, is the perfect location for me to enjoy driving, great roads here, great places, great weather and views.

These cars were meant to be driven, not babied. In fact when I look at E46 M3s and E39 M5s today, the ones in the best mechanical shape are generally the ones that are high mileage because they were driven without a second thought and maintained properly.

In about a month I'll be racking on ~5,000 miles on my M3 over the course of a week and I have no reservations about the car being up for the trip. In fact, I can't imagine spending that much time driving in one week in anything other than my M3

Gonna be a blast! I'll have several quarts of oil for the trip.

After 1200 mile service sometime in June, I'll be taking my E92M3 on a 2.5k-3k road trip. Not taking an M3 on road trips is, to me, akin to having a thorougbred that is only ridden in a corral rather than open ground. There are horses for courses.
