So, my next car won't be an M3 unfortunately (or M4.. or whatever). It'll probably be a Lotus or 911.

I completely agree. Most just want to say they have the "newest" car

Yes I am having the same experience The exterior on my imaginary 2014 M3 is Moonstone and the MSRP was 5 grand lower than the outgoing model. I am driving her on the German Autobahn right now... I really should get back to work now.

If the new F80 M3 engine is a V, perhaps locating the two turbos inside the V and closer to the cylinders as BMW did on the new M5 will lessen, but not eliminate, the lag but it would still be there and it would take a lot of getting used to for me.

The S65 is just so intoxicating and addictive.

It will be interesting to see once the new engine is unveiled and really driven.

A simple $800 tune on the 335i fixes any lag what so ever. I only have a PROcede V4 on my 07' 335 and I dyno'd at 379hp. The car pulls like its pissed at ya

With that being said I plan to get a 11' M3 in the next couple of months bc I feel that it is a more complete car and I hope that im not disappointed with the performance. My main concern is the lack of low end torque around town. I cant remember exact numbers but I think my tuned 335 put down over 400ftlbs when I dyno'd it I know the current M3 doesnt come close to that.

the perfect combo for me would be my exact car with the new turbo engine. i'd take the turbo 'effects' with the better fuel efficiency and better low down torque any day of the week. as for asthetics, i prefer the e92 to what i am seeing for the upcoming one, mostly in the front end/hood area.

the video of the new m3 along side the e92 on the ring should answer your questions about why the NA is better than whatever contraption they have in the f80.

there is no better sounding engine for under $250,000 in the world than the s65. FACT.

yes... even better than the s85.

Like so many others have said, there's no way to know what the new engine (and the chassis it's bolted to) will be like, but if the past is an indication it will be great.

My only hope is that the engine in the new M3 be special and not just a tweaked up n54 rehash. The 1M while being a great car doesn't have a special engine like the S65 and S54 before it.
