In my search to find Black Extended Wheel Locks to use with my 5mm spacers, I am running out of options. Life would be so much easier if McGard would make a set in Black, but of course they do not exist and painting them is not an option for me. The dilemma I have is that my Rear wheels still use the stock size Lug Bolts. The front I needed Extended Lug Bolts, which means I need a set of Wheel Locks for the Rear and another set to accommodate the Front.

My solution to not getting 2 sets of Wheel Locks is to get these Euro Locks as they'll fit on any Lug Bolts, stock or extended. Problem is, they're not entirely all Black.





My question is, any of you guys paint these Black and how did it look?

Funny, cause i'm in the same dilemma. I found these:

a fellow member was selling them and I didn't buy it. I searched all over and even asked Mcgard USA if they sold it. I guess you can only get black edition in Euro.

They don't look extended to me. Just looks like the stock length 26mm

Are you sure you can't use OEM wheel locks on a 5mm spacer? Thought I read somewhere you could.

They are extended. It's about 1.5 long on the shaft.

I swapped all 20 Macht lug bolts for Rad Wheel locks all around and got the right sizes to accomodate my spacers (10-36mm) (10-42mm)Decided to paint them flat black and here is how they looked after I put them on today..The trick is to bake the paint and leave dry for a few days..

Obviously if you continute to unbolt and bolt them the paint will chip away..but Im not planning to take my wheels off too often and am thrilled with the results

Bake them in your oven? Really?? How long for and at what temp? Also, any special paint or just regular spray can paint will do??

I used Rust-oleum flat black enamel spray paint..I baked them at 200 for an hour..let them cool and baked again at 200 for half hr..came out perfect.

Just one coat of paint? If I decide to go this route, I might do 2 coats. Coat, Bake, Cool... Coat, Bake, Cool.

Unless you tell me a reason NOT to do 2 coats and only one is better?

Did 2 coats..

Coat. air dry..coat again...bake..cool..bake again..cool..

I didnt want to do more than 2 coats for fear that it would be too thick and then the wheel lock key would not fit.

Any of you guys know the specs I need? The stock oem wheel locks are, as stated by my parts dept, M14 x 1,25. However, the black McGard ones above in the Ebay auction states M12 x 1.5 and also the RAD rep also said M12 x 1.5. What gives?

RADS are available here

Nice thing i like about RADs is they are made in Germany and TUV certified

The rep is wrong they are M12 bolts not M14. You can see on Real oem here

They are available in the following sizes to be used with the following size spacers

M12 x 1.5, 28mm shank = Stock no spacers
M12 x 1.5, 30mm shank = 5-8 mm spacers
M12 x 1.5, 36mm shank = 10-12mm spacers
M12 x 1.5, 42mm shank = 15mm spacers
M12 x 1.5, 45mm shank = 20mm spacers

No, the BMW parts dept said they are M14 x 1.25. He got the package for me and it said for E9X. That's why I'm confused. The RAD rep did indeed say 14M x 1.5. Just wanted to know which ones are better. I'll be going with the EBay ones. They have 33mm ones. I need 31mm. So the extra 2mm won't look bad and should fit fine.

They arent 14M x 1.25 or 1.5.. they are 12M X1.5 I linked you the real oem tab..^

I did the same thing with my 1 set of RAD locks, but I used a high temp paint.
