You don't pull that, you push it forward. It's called the forward assist. Helps you ensure the bolt is all the way forward.

If your rifle functions properly, you'll never need to use it. Nowadays it's almost like the appendix of the AR-15. Some manufacturers don't even include them on their rifles now.

Damn! Now that's something I do not have the pleasure of seeing everyday.

What's the story on that one?

Bought it from a guy who bought it from an auction of the SingSing prison in NY state, many moons ago.

Colt SP1 "slickside" or. (Note the lack of fences on the lower. Also no forward assist)

Out of all my AR15s, by far the nicest shooting one. There's just something to be said for the way Stoner designed it.

The thing really has that "been there - done that" look on it.

M1 Garand...

Earlier last week this guy walked back into the collection completely unexpected, out-of-the-blue, never thought I'd see him again. This damn gun was one of the few items for which I had still harbored a bit of seller's remorse.

About 5 years ago, I sold the gun to a co-worker, another machinist, I'll call him "Dave". Been offering to buy the thing back for almost as long. Since I'm also a machining inspector at my job, other machinists seek me to inspect/document their work. So, a couple weeks ago, Dave saunters over to my shop for what I assumed was just another inspection, to say I was surprised and rather pleased when he offered to sell this Garand back to me would be textbook understatement.

Thanks for looking,
O

Not on the 'Approved' list, CA requires additional testing and (surprise!) a fee to be paid. It seems like it takes at least a year from when something hits the market for it to be released in CA, if it meets certain criteria.

ps- I know there are ways and loop holes, but they are an expensive (relatively) PITA

I'd say that's effective.

G19 as your first handgun purchase?

I'd say you made the perfect selection. Gold standard in 9mm polymer, striker-fired pistols.

P.S. Good trigger finger discipline in the picture.

Just installed this LMT SOPMOD on my Colt LE6920. Locks up real tight. Liking the cheek weld too.

I agree - good choice. Now you need to get some decent night sights. I put Meprolight Tru-Dot sights on my G34 and I really like them.

Of course you can.
Join a schietvereniging, be a member for a year or so, and get your permit.

Check out www.vuwa.net if you want to know more about gun ownership in the "low lands"

Top one is the Saiga 12. Comes from Russia...basically an AK47 shotgun. It doesn't come like the one in the picture though...gotta convert it for the trigger, pistol grip, and stock.

Bottom is the MSAR STG-556, basically US made Steyr Aug H Bar. Bullpup rifle for 5.56 or .223 caliber.
