I have something to admit...

I was speeding in my E90, but not badly, doing maybe 80 in a 65 here in Dallas (75 North between 635 and the "bush" for those who know it). Not unusual on this stretch of road. Anyway, I was in the left lane and an altima with oklahoma plates pulled in front of me to get around a slower vehicle causing me to have to brake significantly. No biggie, but I was slightly annoyed so I will admit I got a bit close to his back bumper. But I backed off eventually I promise. Anyway, he got out the way, but immediately popped behind me all pissy and riding my bumper now. I just continued ignoring him still going 15 over the limit, until I reached some slow traffic. Of course he immediately crossed three lanes, weaving in and out as fast as he could, and got maybe five cars ahead of me in the left lane no doubt smirking that he had "won". I watched all of this and let him go, I had no intention of playing his game. And then it happened... A blue Charger, unmarked, suddenly came flying from behind also weaving in and out, and pulled the altima over. It had got so far ahead that by the time I passed, he had already been pulled over. The cop was furiously pointing down an onramp, the dude had his window open and i could see his sheepish expression and a very irate lady (wife? GF?) next to him... He must have been going 25 over the limit, and weaving without signals, etc, so the ticket was probably not a good one. And to make life more unpleasant he had a wife/GF in the right seat and I saw her mouth working as I passed.

Anyway, I feel guilty that I goaded a fellow driver to misbehave and get a ticket. Bad me. Couldn't help but laugh when I passed him though!

Good thing that you eventually backed off, but escalating road rage doesn't help anyone. I'm glad the cop was there to pull him over and teach him a lesson. Hopefully, he'll think twice before pulling a boneheaded move. With today's results, it ends up just a funny story. If he'd clipped another car and caused a serious accident (or fatality) while weaving in and out to "beat" you, it would be a lot less funny.

Ahhh fanstatic! When I had my 370z I had a guy trying to get me to go for about a mile. He kept getting on the gas and slowing down, changing lanes irratically etc. I just kept cruising and low and behold this cop came out of nowhere and got right behind me. I immediately swerve out of the way and as he passes me he yells out the window "Watch your driving!"... Ummm Excuse me? I wasn't doing sh!t so I yelled right back "It's that asshole (pointing) not me!!"

Well he lit up that other guy and he gets pulled over. He was an older guy too in like a Camry or something crazy. He had his window down so when I passed I just laughed real loud.

Moments like that are pure bliss.

I'm not saint and would have to admit to being a Richard out on the road on occasion but fair seldom and I try not to, IMO antagonizing idiots is a bad thing waiting to happen.

I know exactly this stretch of 75. BTW, 75 isn't the best hwy for that in here, for some reason drivers on 75, 635 tend to be stupid. I enjoy 121, GB and the freedom of 35 between 635 and downtown, never seen a cop pulling anyone in that stretch, Donno why.

You know what, I actually quite like the new "Get it off my chest" theme of late here on M3 post.

It's the evolution of M3 owners as the product evolves too. We are growing up now (on average - I know you are still out there you teenie boppers ), so we are more apt to be remorseful and truly sorry for our indiscretions.

So I say, hats off to you my fellow friendless douchebag brothers. There is still hope for us yet.

P.S. OP karma's comin' for ya! But yeah, I would have laughed too in that same situation.

You're apologizing for another driver's stupidity?

You're an M driver. You have no friends, so stop trying to be so polite.

I always thought the left lane was for passing, not cruising even 15 over the speed limit. And even worse I if someone is behind you and you choose to impede their progress.

Get in the left lane, make your pass, get out of the lane. When you hit traffic again, repeat. if traffic is dense, you are passing, and you are going fast enough that nobody is close to your tail, fine. But if someone wants to pass faster, get the hell over. Sorry, but seems there were two with poor behavior in this event.

I half agree. The left lane is for passing only on a hwy WITHOUT a speed limit. On a hwy with a speed limit, if you're driving 10-15 more than the speed limit, I think you can cruise in left lane, getting out of the way for a faster car becomes a curtsy but not a mandate. It's different if you're driving at or below the speed limit. I'm not a hypocrite either, if I'm the one driving 90 in a 65 I don't expect the people driving 75-80 to get out of the way for me, I change lanes. My 2C

Good, got what he deserved.

Anyone that cuts in front of you forcing you to brake is a bad driver in my opinion. Feel free to cut in front of me all you want and I don't mind lifting on the gas but don't make me brake! So if you have a fast car and you can cut in front of me but you get on it so you don't disturb me, more power to you!

99% of the drivers out there don't use the left lane for just passing. It's a sad fact of life that most places have over stressed highway systems with insufficient capacity. If the left lane was just used for passing, traffic would be even worse

There are roads in North Carolina without a speed limit?
