It fizzled. There was no venue to do it in. I can try bringing it up with Jed again. Unfortunately people saying "depends" and such makes it nearly impossible to plan this as we need concrete numbers for the first time it will be run.

Ok guys so things are heating up and moving along here. j2m has generously offered a venue, and Jed has also secured a venue himself. Timing wise, venue wise, we are for sure looking at a Sunday. So at least we have a day of the week nailed down. We are going to try to iron out a few more details.
I am thinking we should be able to get ten of us between us M3 guys and our car buddies.

I'm still in or I wouldn't have revived this thread. Stefan pin me when you have solid details.

Do you guys REALLY need lessons? I was petrified of ruining my car's finish, too, but I just dove right in, and learned.
Seriously. If you just read up on how to do things, and make sure your technique is good, you won't go wrong. It's practically impossible to damage your paint with a random orbital polisher (Porter Cable is great). Practice on a beater first. Use a random orbital polisher first, and then (if you wish), move up to a dual action or full-on rotary polisher - these cut down on time spent, but require a little more due diligence. Read up on how to do things, and then just go out and do it. Here are a few great web sites that outline technique, and have great suggestions on choosing products: http://www.autopiaforums.com/?gclid=...FWcZQgod9ENVww http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/?du=y (this one is ALL you need). http://www.autogeekonline.net/ To order your products, to here: www.eshine.ca - great pricing, and great products. Mostly, car care is about prevention. Get your wash procedure done right, and prevent swirls in the first place. Seriously. It's not hard. And, it is extremely gratifying. I think nothing of getting up at 6am on a Saturday morning, and working until midnight - I love doing it, and when I stand back and look at a car that is ten years old, with paint that is BETTER than showroom (i.e. - swirl-mark free), I smile.... You DON'T need lessions. Learn yourself. That way, you don't have to worry about arranging a time for lessons, travelling, etc. If you have any questions, PM me - I can likely answer them, or point you to the information that you need. Do a little research for yourselves, and go at it. You'll be glad you did. You DON'T need someone to hold your hand! ![]() ![]()

So we have a venue; it's Jed's friend's dealership. Two cars will be used to detail. Maximum of SIX people for the class. It will be on a Sunday. I'll post more details shortly.

Sounds like we have six for sure. I'll let Jed know. Once details are finalized I'll post a list up, and the first six to respond will be in!
