Idrive knob fell off

I had my phone on the center console and when I shifted gear, the Idrive knob fell off. I tried to put it back on but I couldn't get it back on. Is there way to put it back on, or will I hve to get it replaced under warranty by the dealer? Also, just found scratch on the rear by the trunk ;( very annoying nd bout 3 inches long

Is yours a 2008 model? The aluminum knob is glued to the plastic mounting to the i drive controller. I've seen these fall off in the used cars I've seen. It looks like the glue breaks off. It is actually rather common.

If you are under warranty you can get it replaced. Otherwise, you can buy the knob itself.

I know this happened to car and driver magazine on their long term test car and it was replaced by warranty.

Happened on mine (2008). Just glued it back on with thick super glue.

08 knobs, you can pick up new knobs for a song...

but i would jsut glue it back on.

i hope to drive the car next week in the hamptons. will be first time driving manual or anything with over 200 hp. cant wait and will write about what i thought...

If it's 2008, it's a known issue. Happened on mine too.
