LC2i keeps failing on me.
Hey all,
For some reason, LC2i keeps loosing volume. I have a sub and AMP connected to my LC2i and the BASS hits when I first set it up, but over time my BASS disappears to the point my seat subs make more noise than my 12" JL sub. If I crank up the LC2i gain, it will sound better, but a few days later, it will drop in volume again to the point my seat subs are louder. Being Ive run into this twice now has me wondering if this thing can really handle the volt spikes coming off the EPS system. Interestingly enough a buddy of mine who also has an LC2i with a sub and amp in a E92 just told me his is doing the same thing. Has anyone else experienced this with an LC2i? I am in the same boat. Unit works great for a period of time and then you constantly have to up the gains to keep the output the same. It's very frustrating indeed. I don't really want to spend more money on coding plus additional on the extra amp(s) needed to power the stock setup but this is getting ridiculous.

how is it wired? are you using technics harness? Make sure that when your getting the signal from the subs underneath that you only use the signal of one sub and not both!. This isnt mentioned and i had to figure this out the hard way. Instead of 4 wries going into the lc2i there should be a left neg and right positive from only one speaker. HOPE this helps

It might make sense in the fact that we should technically only need the output of one speaker for the signal we need since this is a mono application. So is it possible that running both sets of speaker wires to the LC2i is causing TOO much voltage to run through the unit therefore killing it? If I had my car here today, I could use a DVM to check what the output is from the stock speakers.

my LC2i has had all 4 wires plugged in since day one
never had issues and my amp gain is almost at the minimum, so i don't think the above theory is true

And it was pretty loud. But over time the bass has just disappeared. When I went outside to check how many wires I had connected, I thought I smelled burnt electronics again... God dammit.

The OEM amp is not bridgeable so I don't think you should try to do that. You risk damaging the OEM amp. Now the signal to the underseat woofers is stereo, at least in the midbass frequencies and I'm sure it is mono in the bass and sub bass frequencies. So... If you are running and add-on sub in the trunk in conjunction with the OEM woofers, then it think it would be ok to tap only one side of the amp outputs, BUT if you are externally amping the underseats then you would lose some stereo separation in the midbass range.
For those who are having issues with the LC2i, are you adding bass boost from the head unit EQ??? If yes, that may be your problem. If not, the LOC may not be capable of handling the output of the OEM amp.

when i had all 4 wires plugged in, my sub would never hit hard and they would almost always blow or my amp would over heat. The reasoning i have, your getting signal, a low pass signal from the two subs underneath, just one signal from one sub would give you a clear signal rather than having two signal pushed into one sub. the way i have mine setup is, pick any sub you want signal from and cut the other sub out. EX. right l7 subwoofer, right postive and right negative will go into your lci.

can you run you LCi any higher than half way without it distorting? When i had mine plugged in that way, the unit wasn't able to go any higher than minimum or 9 o clock position without distortion.

Unfortunately, this seems counterproductive. I can understand maybe keeping the Bass at zero or not adding additional, but to have to keep the EQ flat in order to keep things happy seems to be giving up one thing to have another.
