Laguna Seca HPDE Trackdays for 2012

I was booking some of my trackdays at Laguna Seca, layed everything out and figured it may be useful for some other forum members. Laguna Seca is unlike the tracks in SoCal that have events all the time. In 4 months there are only like 10 open trackdays so you really have to plan ahead.

http://www.mazdaraceway.com/

Here are the Laguna Seca track days so far as of 2-15-12:

February
Tuesday 21 - Golden Gate Lotus
Friday 24 - Hooked on Driving

March
Monday 12 - Northern California Racing Club
Friday 16 - Audi Car Club
Monday 19 - PDC Racing - invite only
Thursday 29 &
Friday 30 - Trackmasters for auto racing and Z2 Trackdays for motorcycle - combined both days

April
Wednesday 4 - Golden Gate Lotus Club
Thursday 12 - Hooked on Driving

May
Sunday 27 - Bridgeway Motors CFRA

June
Saturday 16 - PCA SVR
Sunday 17 - Trackmasters
Tuesday 26 - Trackmasters
Friday 29 - Speed Ventures
Saturday 30 - Speed Ventures

July
Sunday 1 - Speed Ventures
rest of July is not finalized

July, August, September, October and November are not finalized yet. Recently an even on April 8th was taken off and not replaced, so dates do sometimes change but this is 90%.

I am already attending the Trackmaster Friday, March 30th event as well as the Speed Ventures Saturday, June 30th event. Hit me up if you are atteding those as I am local.

It is so hard to find trackdays @ Laguna I am getting excited that they are already booked!!!!!

I've been to that track plety of times over the years, but never on it and that needs to change!

Can you share some more info on pricing, how much track time you get and how/if they regulate which groups roll out together?

I'm really interested in getting out there on March 30th as well.

Laguna Seca is usually more than other tracks during the summer, but this event is early enough and is $250 for Friday. One thing about this event is that they are only running a mixed and advance group so you will need track experience to drive. From June on the price is about $300+. Almost all track days consist of 4 or 5 20-25 min sessions divided into groups by experience.

Looks like there is a session on Feb 20 as well. Might be a good primer for me.

What's the event on the 8th? TrackMasters had the date but it looks like it dropped off their calendar.

Trackmasters originally had April 8th, and that was going to be my first track day of the season. But in the last month, that event fell off and Keighwins (spelling) a motorcycle only group took the day. The March 29 & 30th event is actually the closest consolation date.

Event is on the 9th with CFRA ... It's by invitation only ... if you are interested I can send you a link with the code to register.

I am going to the Saturday, June 30 event with Speed Ventures. I would assume Saturday is all sold out unless you register for a 2 or 3 day event. And so far I am the only M3!!!!!

how much are these events usually? particularly the june 30th one, because im highly interested!

also,
GASOLINE: Make sure you show up with enough gas to run your first session at least, if not the whole day. There are pumps at the track that USUALLY work (but there’s no guarantee). If your car cannot run without high-octane race fuel, please bring your own as we will not give refunds or credits if the pumps at the track do not work (this has happened twice)
there is a chance that the gas pumps there dont work?

and,
WARNING: The SOUND LIMIT for this track is 92db and it is strictly enforced at MAZDA Raceway Laguna Seca. Most modified cars (exhaust, intake) do NOT make sound. Making the sound limit is not a problem for most unmodified cars - most cars in stock condition pass sound. HOWEVER, a number of cars do NOT make sound even in stock condition. These tend to be cars making 400+ horsepower such as, but not limited to, the Ferrari F430 and F458, Lamborghinis, the 997GT3, the Corvette ZR-1, and some Vipers. In addition, some 300+hp cars, such as the Cayman S (and probably the Cayman R) do not make sound. Please call to discuss if you have a question about your car. We will not give refunds or credits for future events for drivers/cars that do not make sound. If your car is modified and/or is louder than stock, or your car is a high performance vehicle for which you do not have reliable confirmation of its sound level at MAZDA Raceway, please contact us to discuss the sound requirements before signing up.
the sound limit is ridiculously low for a race track

Even with a full tank of gas in the morning you'll end up having to fill up again sometime in the afternoon with the M3 unless you skip a few sessions. You can almost watch the needle drop as you are going down the main straights. I've always been able to fill up at the track, but it is expensive and there have been occasions where it took like 20 minutes to fill the tank because it was pumping so slow. I always make sure I fill up right before I get to the track.

I can say my car with the akrapovic evo passes the sound test on a clear day. On a cloudy day the akra evo's have been known to pass 92db and get you the the mechanical flag. On those days I just shift into a lower gear around the sound check booth.

oh ok. i hope my eisenmann sport + turner test pipes would cut the sound check, but if not, i'll just do what you do haha.

so how much do these events cost regularly?

Laguna is usually around 200 on a weekday and 250 or so on a weekend. If the event organizers have instructors (bmwcca for example), they tend to go up another 100 or so.
