F1 Live Experience Feedback

I was chatting with a coworker about the upcoming season, and the possibility of attending the Canadian GP..then it struck me. What's the atmosphere like at an event like this? I mean you pay for your seat but all you get is probably 10 seconds of the car flying by. Is there anything special about being at the event live? I know a couple of you guys have been, so I'm looking forward to your feedback.

There is nothing like it!!!!

The cars are spread out throughout the race, so there is always action.....especially at a hairpin. Coupled with all the support races, it's an awesome weekend!!!

If you have the chance to go, do it. If you don't, you'll regret it the rest of your life.

And these words will echo through my head for the next little while...thanks for the input. Also gives me an excuse to take a nice long drive out.

I've flown from Prince George BC twice, and I'll be back to Montreal very soon I hope.

Been going to The Montreal GP on & off since the 1st race there in 1978 and raced there 3 times in the support races for the GP.In 78 we were there on the Thursday and got to hang out in the garages and watched the warmup of G V's 312 Ferrari including looking down the inlet trumpets and watching the fuel coming out the injectors!Used to enjoy going to watch before they restricted the public access like it is today.Getting on & off the island is a real pain and it does end up being a super expensive weekend if you do it properly. However hanging out on Crescent St in the evening can make it all worthwhile

This thread reminds me that I had to give up tickets to last years event because of a new job.
The remaining guys that did go said it was incredible, even with all the rain.
The racing, combined with the vibrant nightlife in Montreal surrounding the event was apparently world class.
It's back on my bucket list for the upcoming years

Nothing like seeing f1 in person. You will be spoiled after. Other form of racing just doesn't seem as exciting.

It wad quite a shocking moment When Robert_Kubica's cAr crashed and debris hitting my face . Something I will never forget

I've never been to the Canadian GP, but was at the Brazillian GP when hamilton beat out massa for the championship. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime to see and hear the cars live!! But i'm not sure if I would go again.. I found that I couldn't get "into" the race bc you only see one section of the track. I much prefer watching it on TV, from that perspective...

This is what we were talking about, how much of the race do you get to enjoy when you really only get to see the car(s) for a couple of seconds. But it's definitely one of the things to do at least once.

I've been twice. In 2008 and 2010. My sister lives there. Her husband is an orthodontist like me. I was able to get really good tickets for both times (front straight front row the first year and the hairpin for the second time)

Montreal transforms into another entity altogether during F1. The city makes a LOT of money during that week. Hotels are triple price -- and hard to find esp if you want to stay downtown. So bring $$$

I have to say it is probably one of the most fun things I have experienced in my life. The people of Montreal are amazing and there is an electricity in the air that you can feel. F1 cars blow your mind. They are so loud and fast you really get a new appreciation for how good a driver you have to be not to kill yourself in one of these multimillion dollar machines.

If you like Ferrari's you will be very happy too. They cruise the streets of Montreal in endless parades. You will see tons of other exotics. Theres lots of beautiful women everywhere and that is what just turns it into a fantasy land to me.

The race is exciting (albeit short after watching the practice and qualifying) You have to pick your view points carefully. The hairpin is the best place to get a good view of the cars. They put barriers up around most of the track so you cant see much if you don't buy a seat in the stands.

On my second trip I got to see Michael Schumacher in a F1 car. This was always a dream of mine. That was cool even though he wasn't particularly magical that weekend.

I highly recommend making the effort to go. You won't regret it
