Well I must say that as I was driving behind/next to one for about 30 minutes... the word "Ferrari" definitely did not come to mind. Good-sounding V8 was more like it. I suppose it sounds better from the drivers seat?

Swamp, I know you are concerned about mileage as well?
Well it's probably really tough to gage the efficiency of a vehicle when flogging it up and down Ascari...

Mileage is a concern of mine, but I'd say definitely not a major concern, nowhere near a major concern. If mileage is a major concern you are shopping for the entirely wrong car, moreover in the wrong segment. I think it is great that BMW pays attention to efficient dynamics and think it will be amazing if the new M out mpgs the old one. I'd certainly enjoy not paying a gas guzzler tax and having a car that is as green as possible in its segment. However, if it doesn't exceed the E46 M3 in efficiency it would not keep me from buying it.

Topgear is pretty pro-Ferrari if you watch their episodes and if they compare the M3 V8 to a ferrari's, it has gotta be great.

me no likey top gear criticizing cars. feels like they have to say something bad about the car no matter what. like the 07 Z06 review they did, furst they say it's purfect car, then they come back and spell out a long wrong list of negatives.
