3rd power socket - retrofit

My car (2012 e92) has an empty space where the 3rd, under dash, power socket used to be on earlier models.

As neither the ashtray, nor centre armrest sockets are convenient to use I was thinking about fitting the 3rd socket to mine. Is the wiring there anyway, if I just buy an extra socket?

You will need the socket and the harness and then connect it in parallel to the center console socket.

Old thread, I know - but any success with this? Have the same non-functioning space in mine! Trying to track down a nice DIY tutorial.

No DIY and I tried locating the correct part number for quite some time and came up empty. I did buy an OEM socket and harness but have yet to see if it will mate up without any splicing.

I just did the sunglass holder mod and relocated my stock cig lighter into the hole under the dash. Sunglass holder was 20 bucks and the rest was free.
