Metal Tapping noise between 3-4k

Hi Guys,

Under WOT the engine noise changes from a nice grown to a metal tapping noise between 3 and 4k. The sound is similar to someone using a hammer and lightly tapping a cast iron pipe. This only comes and goes under WOT and only between 3-4k. It has been there since after break in, noise level has not changed. 5,000km on the car.

I would assume that you are hearing the natural resonance that the intake of the M3 makes....... every M3 has that sound between 3-4 K RPM.

A video would definitely help to confirm this is the sound you are hearing!

It's normal, a drop-in filter, exhaust, or tune will all exacerbate it.

Kinda annoying though. Any way to get rid of it? ... Please don't say S/C.
