Anyone know the Steering Ratio for the new M3??

I'm hoping for some nice quick steering. Not Buick-style.

13.9:1 or less and I'm happy.

Anyone heard anything??

E46 was 15.4:1, CSL and ZCP were 14.5:1

Excuse my ignorance, but if a lower steering ratio is 'better', then why don't they make all their cars 10:1 or what have you?

The lower the steering ratio, the agiler the steering; but a low steering ratio also makes the car a bit nervous. That's great for a sports car like the M3, but If you're driving a comfort orientated car, you also expect the steering to be less nervous/immediate- So a higher steering ratio makes sense. Some don't like it to get a response from every bit the steering wheel is turned...

RS4 13.10:1
C63 isn't out yet, couldn't find data for the clk63 either...

you can assume the C63 will be about 17:1.

Now let's just hope the M3's isn't too boosted. According to the various dealer info/files that have been posted, it sounds like the M-Drive button has an option to "heavy-up" the steering.

With a 12.5:1 ratio, it's obvious BMW wants to keep this car razor-sharp! That should avoid the "bigger, heavier, softer" criticism.... but we might see some "too many electronics" criticism, since we might have a lot of options for adjusting how the car feels. You know those auto-journalists... they just want to hop in and drive, since they only get a day or so with the car. They never could understand i-Drive.... but I digress.....

Now that the C63 is official I thought a little update would make sense.
Here we go with the steering ratio of the "BIG 3":

M3: 12.5:1
RS4: 13.1:1
C63: 13.5:1

Can't wait to see/hear some official comparisons and not a bunch of conjecture on which will out-perform the other based on 0-60 times and hp/trq numbers.
