I didn't read about the RD Sports, I experienced! Gixxer_kid took me for a ride in his car, which currently has RD sports and the rest stock. Car felt near identical to stock, and we even took it over some rough bumps (i grit my teeth) and it wasn't uncomfortable in any way.

I've had some pretty rough suspensions in the past, so I can tell pretty quickly if it is something that I would or would not want to deal with for an extended period of time.

That being said, I'm certainly open to experiencing the H&R's if anyone in the area is using them!!

UPDATES:

Figured if I'm keeping progress of my car, I may as well update the thread as things are changing.

So it turns out the early predictions were correct. I received a set of MINTY 20" BBS LMs from Gixxer_Kid. They looked SO good that I waxed them and had to keep one on display in my apartment as I waited for Spring to come:

Got around to taking some better pictures with the LMs.

For some reason the colors on my Mac are much deeper than they appear here, so I guess I need some new calibration software. The next pictures will be better!!

EDIT: tried messing with this one in Flickr and it came out worse, I'll have to re-upload

Angle is a little to low on this one, makes it look like a monster truck even though it's lowered!

And a side profile:

WINTER TIME!!!

Sold my 18x8.5 snows because I had new wheels, and figured I'd throw some nice snow tires on the 220Ms.

This was the old setup:

Guy at the auto shop HIGHLY recommended Vredestein Wintrac Extreme Tyres (whichever new ones just came out, I forget the specs), which were VERY expensive......but I figured what the hell.

In snow mode:

Honestly, I'm pissed. Maybe I needed someone to double check they were installed correctly, but these tires are NOT as described.

The car feels loose, squishy, and unpredictable during aggressive lane changes and corners. I've experienced a variety of snow tires and the only ones that were worse were on my mothers 128i -- and that's because she accidentally purchased 'studdable' snows that were literally never really meant for asphalt.

I thought the unpredictability would fade once I broke them in, but it never did. Nevertheless I have toned down my driving a bit over the winter.

As spring is right around the corner, I struggled with the problem that many of us M3 owners go through....

NEW CAR? OR UPGRADE CAR?

Seeing as everything I wanted was either not available yet or a smidge out of my range, I decided to go with the latter!!

First things first was to change the wheels. As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE the LM's (my dream wheel), I longed for something lighter and more practical, while retaining the WOW factor my LMs had. As I got on a weight savings kick, my mind immediately drifted to the following options:
  • 18" Advan RZ
  • 18" TE37 SL
  • 19" RAC RG63
  • 18" BBS FI

I really couldn't afford the FI's even after selling my LMs, so those were out.
I wasn't going to track my car that often, so I then ruled the 18" Volk and Advan out
I loved the RG63, but they didn't have the WOW factor I was looking for.....So those were out also

What to do? I had decided that I wanted
  • a 19" wheel
  • a LIGHTWEIGHT wheel (18-21lb)
  • a wheel I could AFFORD

After scouring the forums for countless hours and searching high and low, forum member j2m provided exactly the wheel I was looking for: The 19" HRE P43SC.

This is his picture of the wheels on his car:

Perfect for what I was looking for. Strong (monoblok), Lightweight (20 & 21lb), 19", and moderately affordable once I sold my LMs.

I jumped on them right away, and j2m was more than accommodating, shipping the wheels out IMMEDIATELY. They arrived at my house 3 working days later:

The wheels are SATIN BLACK, which is a sexy matte textured black finish that is hypnotizing to look at in person.

Unfortunately, I'm not the biggest fan of black wheels on a white car unless it has other complimentary black parts (which mine really doesn't aside from the lip), as I think the wheel gets 'lost' due to having so much contrast against the car.

I decided that I wanted a charcoal finish, keeping the matte texture - this would give me something unique that I hadn't quite seen before. Forum member Biglare had HRE P44scs in battleship grey, but I wanted mine to be a little darker, kind of like this color:

SO, now the waiting game begins as I'm having the wheels re-done in a Ferrari 458-ish textured charcoal grey with gold and silver flake. I had a buddy do a quick photoshop of the wheels on the car and this is what he came up with:

Final shade may look a big lighter, but I think it will be a great start towards a new look for the spring.

---Now trying to decide between AD08 or PSS again

I would do your wheels in a brushed tinted clear, or at darkest a clear titanium. The wheels look sick in brushed tinted clear. In fact I would reach out to HRE themselves to see if they can do it for you. Going charcoal is too dark for that wheel, on your color, in my opinion

i would agree with this... charcoal is one color that really just looks a bit off with AW. Needs to be silver or darker like a dark graphite/black. Just my opinion since i had AW and that was generally what i found to be true.

Haha too late! They're already getting done. The finish is actually lighter than the HRE satin charcoal for what it's worth. Hey and if I'm not feeling it, I can always change it again!

They do great work... Good news is, if you don't like the finish....just say you thought they would be a few shades darker and ask mario to do them again.
