They look at the sidewall to see if there's any indication of rubbing or if there's rubber in the tire.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

take the tire off and look at the inside of the sidewall, If it's ripped or torn at all then replace it. If not it's fine.

Okay I had 3 different shops check the tire/rim out.
1 of them is a sponsor on here, the other 2 are well known among many local forum members (I think they will become sponsors soon, not sure).
And I had it looked at by my local shop (whom I've been going to for years; the owner is a close friend of my father's for longer than I've been alive)

All said the it's perfectly okay with no issues.
Except the track shop told me I was running a little too hot (which I was, I was going 40-42 psi hot a couple times I remember).
RS3s should be about 38-40hot. I'll take note for next time and observe more closely.

Here are pictures I took, please let me know if you guys notice anything the shops may have missed:

You can only see the damage on the inside of the tire.

The only way to tell if the tire is good is to take off the tire. If you drove on the tire while flat, you'll see a wear line on the inside of the sidewall. You'll know immediately when you get the tire half off because there will be rubber shavings on the inside. If you do have wear on the inside then the tire should be replaced for track use. You might be okay for regular street driving.

Otherwise, the tire is fine. From looking at the pics, I think you'll be OK.

In case anyone was interested to know, there was no damage to the tire at all all. Tracked on afterwards with no issue. Also, once it was dismounted so I could put new tires on, there was no damage at all.

With tires, it's best to err on the side of caution. Good to hear all went well. Are you running TPMS in those wheels?
