Melbourne Red on Black...or...Mineral White on Red
Having a hard time deciding which one I should get. I can currently get a Melbourne Red dealer demo w/<3k miles (DCT, Prem, Comp, Cold, Prem Radio) for about $62k....or....I can order a new one with Mineral White on Red with the same options for about $3k more. I think I like the MW a little more, but there are so many people out there with white.
I currently have premium sound on my 2008, but is it really worth it? I have not listened to the standard radio. If I order a MW without the premium sound I would be getting a new car rather than demo for about $1k more. Opinions?

Obviously do whatever is right for you, but I've gotta say that I kinda regret not getting MR.
I really do like my MW but if I were to do it again I would get MR, in person the color is just fantastic. Either way I would get the new one for $3k more. Dealer demos are not treated the best.

Golffrr cannot chime in on a color thread since you have an individual MCB car.
![]() Another piece of advice - give Golffrr's guy a call about the car you want to order, maybe he'll be able to help you, maybe not. But it should validate your dealer's pricing.

Id normally say go with the Melbourne but I'm not a big fan of "Demo" cars. I look at them the say way I would buying a rental car (Knowing how I beat them) or a M school car, its had a hard start to life...
The difference in cost between the two isn't that substantial, I'd go with the Mineral White (Even as much as I love RED) and don't look back

Melbourne red is really a color that you can only truly appreciate in person. It looks amazing during the day, but when it really shines is at dusk and at night in the light of parking lots/garages. The red is honestly just really beautiful. Actually, I would order a melbourne red one ![]()

I was not thinking MR would be winning the vote, but it seems it is more popular than I though. I like having a car that stands out from other M3s, so maybe MR is the way to go.
As far as it being a demo car, it is taken care of than a little better than others out there. The dealer does not allow a customer to drive the car until after the initial 1200 break in. During this time only the service managers can drive it to ensure the car is broken in properly. Once the break in is done a customer car drive the car, but under the supervision of a salesman. I am sure people still run it a little hard. The dealer has to have the car for 3 months or 3k miles. Since it is winter in Germany, I do not think the car will have 3k miles at the end of the 3 month. I guess I will see as that gets closer (another month). As for pricing, I am military and we get special pricing over here in Germany. When we buy one through the military sales it includes warranty in Europe and free shipping back to the states. A stateside dealer won't be able to match the price I get here. What is everyone's opinion of the premium sound vs the standard system?

I'd still pass on the demo even if it was broken in properly. They're going to tell you what you want to hear. I was looking at a 997 4S (only one on the lot at the time) and it was a "demo" with 4.1 on the clock. The salesman literally told me "Don't worry about it being a demo car, it was just driven by the owners wife on the weekends"
Just me I'd still pass on it, its only 3k difference between that versus new. It'll also proly be one of the last chances to get at a new E9x. If you do order one though I'd really recommend MR over MW. Mineral White is a nice color but MR ![]()

get the one you really want... you might regret it in the end if you dont....
I have a Melbourne Red.... if i had a choice the time i bought the car i would have gotten the AW since MW was not offered... now that the MW is out... no doubt its my 1st choice...

I just talked to the military dealer here again and the dealer demo has only had 4 test drives on it in the past 3 months. I do believe the dealer when they say it has not been abused. After all, it is the dealer that sponsors every ///M Flight even we have over here. That said... I think I am going to get a new one ![]()
