No beep when I unlock/lock 08 m3

I just recently bought an 08 m3 e90 and when I lock/unlock my car it doesn\'t make the beep. I went into the settings on my iDrive and there is no option to turn them on/off while it says there is the option in the manual. Does that come with a specific package? Or am I just dumb and missed it? Its not a big deal, I was just curious. Also, if it doesnt beep does that mean the alarm isnt activated? Any help would be awesome, I\'m new to the BMW family.

You need the alarm kit. The car is wired but doesnt come with the horn. Once installed promply pay the dealer 150 dollars to code ot so it is active.

So the car doesn't come with an alarm system? How much will that set me back to install? And just to get it straight, if someone were to break into my car no alarm would sound??

Thanks for the help

Install is fairly straightfoward since your car is prewired. Search in the DIY section. I think there was a writeup in there.

Err... no on both counts. OEM alarm standard only in MY2012, optional in the rest.

There's an OEM alarm DIY somewhere in the forum. Search for it.
