Talking Carfax Help...

Hi Friends,

If not against the rules, can someone please a Carfax report for me? I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!

Talking

Appreciate the responses guys, and yes, there is merit to what you are saying, but it counts towards the "due diligence" in buying a car...

So any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Guys, again, I do appreciate the heeding and agree as well, but how comfortable would you really feel that you didn't even care about even looking at the report? Plus, other information is there as well, like # of owners, the location of the car and etc...

Thanks again for your responses!

Not saying don't care, but find another method to have the car inspected.

To reiterate, the car fax is useless.

On a seperate, but related note, why is everyone asking for car faxes lately? You want to buy a 50k+ car, place value in a car fax, but don't want to spend the 5 or 6 bucks it cost to run one yourself?

Back to topic; the car fax is worthless.

Carfax is out of control now with their 30 dollar per report. But for the most part only use it as a guideline. It is not 100% accurate.

You can't trust car fax to be 1% accurate.

Question

Hi Guys,

Need a Carfax for another car. Can someone please help? Thanks!

(I know about the warnings of how useless it is, but I still feel one should be done)

Thanks!

How is that possible? Doesn't carfax pull it's info from govt sources and insurance agencies? Surely $30k in damage (which should be totaled from a car that costs about that much) would be fixed via insurance right?

The list price when I got the car was $48K. BMWFS was owed about $36k at the time of the accident. They felt it was in their best interest to have it fixed, and it was never the same again. I feel bad for the poor guy that bought it after I turned it in.

CarFax is a good way to know NOT to buy a car, but isn't a good way to determine if you SHOULD buy the car.

So if CarFax shows major accidents reported, numerous owners,is that useless? You still gonna have to check the car, maybe it's a way to weed out certain cars.

Was it fixed through insurance? How long after the repairs were made was the car fax run? Not doubting you, it just seems crazy that $30k of damage wouldn't show up.

Yes, State Farm paid for the repairs, and I don't remember exactly, but the Carfax was run maybe a year after I turned the car in (which would have been at least a year after the car was repaired).

No, you're spot on. It can be very useful in finding damage. But I wouldn't consider a car OKAY just from the CarFax report. Like it said, it'll tell ya what not to buy, but that's about it.
