I don't know, seems a bit hopeless, this blackout/protest deal. When citizens need to constantly monitor their government's legislation to make sure nothing slips through without necessary protest, you know something is wrong. The senators behind all this anti-piracy legislation appear to be idiots without any idea of how the internet works. Look up their c-span hearings on youtube if you want to see for yourself.

I think going after social networking sites is the wrong way to go about this, but it would certainly get everyone's attention. Also the notion that congressmen/women have no idea what the internet is... is completely true. I like it better when they bring down government sites because I feel that it's attacking who real deserves to be attacked... not saying that hacking/DDoS'ing websites is right or anything, but you know

It will be hectic if they do bring it down. They did it a few months ago for about 30 mins or so. I remember being on 4chan when they were doing it.

As much as i agree with you about going after social media sites being dumb, there is a smart side to it.

Facebook is one of the most publicised things out there, so if it goes down, the world will know it went down.

It would be all over the news, and that's what these people want. It's by far the most public way of getting noticed, and will get the attention of the voting public. Just going after CIA and stuff may not drum up the same attention as they would keep things less public. And it might also scare the general public more if they can take down CIA servers.

This is exactly what I thought, I heard when they said the time, waited for the time zone. Then thought "Oh they'll probably say it at the end of the video." I then listened for it and when the video ended without the time zone being said....well they can't be that bright....

haha, another thought, since it's supposed to happen Jan 28th, why do it on a saturday when half the nation of facebook users are out on dates or out with friends. There goes half your army.... A sunday night would work 10x better for this reason.
