Spring rates are a soft 350F and 700R since the customer wanted a really soft street ride, it is a DD after all.

Vehicle ran OEM competition wheels in black with 265F and 295R Hoosiers as the only other modification. Lap time was an amazing 1:41.xx with traffic.

The car rides awesome at the above spring rates, better compliance than stock with much more control. This suspension perform exceptionally well on soaking up the small undulations that the stock suspension wouldn't.

How would an s/a setup compare in terms of ride quality?

Especially if run without camber plates?

I had the s/a setup on my e46 and thought it did not ride as well as stock. Wonder if it would perform better on the e9x.

SA's don't have the motorsport valving package that come in the DA's so they don't feel as nice and soak up all those little bumps as well.

If you ran 300F 400R or 350F 450R on your E46 the ride should have been okay. At 400F 500R or 500F 600R then it will bit firm.

you need to swap the plates or rotate them. Otherwise, you'd lose caster and kingpin when you gained caster.

They are in fact in there correctly.

Mounting them like you suggested would mean NO camber adjustment in the negative direction, but rather positive to correct for too much camber.

The slot you see the center of the strut top sits in is the actual castor slot, turning the plates 120 degrees would mean turning caster adjustment into camber and camber adjustment into castor, that wasn't how the plates were designed.

The logos aren't supposed to be read from standing in front of the car, but rather from the sides of the cars.

No, as long as you don't move the camber plates and don't alter the ride height, alignment should not change. However, it is still a good idea to check the alignment after you are finished with the spring swap.

Just a comment on the positioning of the plates. Back in the day....10-12 years ago, people who autocrossed with these plates would decrease the caster as much as possible to gain more camber. I found out that my E36 M3 had the only set of red TCK plates ever made. The guy I got the car from worked for TC Kline when he put the car together. Evidently TC hated the red plates and so there were never any more done that way. I bought the car in 2003 and just learned of this last month.

Yes, decreasing the castor allow the strut top nut to be position more in the center of the strut tower opening, thus allow more camber adjustment. TCK also use a load distribution ring and low profile 17mm top nut to gain more camber adjustment.
