JRZ RS1 shocks.

New shocks from JRZ.
Looks promising for those of us looking for a good dual purpose set up. SA, monotube damper.

Looks tempting. I'm sure they're $$, but probably worth it.

From JRZ: "With a few clicks you can turn your smooth street car into a crisp, rock solid track car in seconds." -- Where do you suppose the adjustment is made? Would it require jacking the car first? Is the ride height fixed?

Threaded body, so it's a coilover. From the pics it seems the adjustments are from the top of the shock assembly.

For that much $$$, I would pay a bit more for the RS Pro. Everything is still "dual purpose" but with a lot more performance and wider adjustment.

RS and RS Pro are not that street friendly from what I have heard.
I think these will be similar to Moton Street Sports.

Why aren't they street friendly? I have had both RS and RS Pro on my street cars, I DD and track them. Never had problem or notice anything wrong.

"Street friendly" is subjective I guess. I few Porsche owners I know that run JRZs find them harsh on the street.

i got a ride in my friend Fruitcake's car today and its very comfortable, its about same firmness as stock on comfort setting but rides even better. He has the RS, not the RS1s. Like ricky said, its all due to springs but the nice thing about JRZ shocks is that the shock is strong enough to compensate for lower spring rates compared to the likes of KW Clubsport/Competition.

Ride comfort is a function of the damper curve, and the straighter it is, the harsher it is. That's why AST is making so much fuss about their hyper-digressive valving. That sharp bend in the curve delivers good motion control at the track and a comfortable ride on the drive home. JRZ, Penske, Koni, Bilstein, Sachs and so on can all deliver something similar, but it's a racing shock feature that most racers don't care about unless they're doing 12 and 24 hour endurance events. Most street shocks can't afford the technology to do this and still stay at the price points they're aimed at.

I've seen reviews from Evo X, STis, and the 1M. They all say great things about these dampers.

These are what I plan on getting hopefully by summer time for my E46 M3. Some say that it may be worthwhile to upgrade to RS or RS Pro, but for me personally, having a single adjustable is just enough for my goals and interests.

I'm excited to see more reviews on E46 and E90 M3s.

Are the AST shocks digressive on both rebound and compression? I read somewhere on the Internet that the JRZ RS1 is digressive on compression and linear on rebound. I'll try again to find the source.

Most high aero cars are digressive on rebound to hold the car down to the ground - DP cars, Formula, etc.

I have Moton Club Sport on my M3, the ride quality I have it's about the same as MDM. Since you are local, I'm happy to give you a ride in my car on streets or tracks. I want to hear your opinion.

I understand you are running these on your E46.
Can you give us your impression of them please, especially say compared to Moton Street Sports.

They have a wide range of control and I like them. Some dampers just feel rough - not stiff, but rough. These do not. Certainly in their range of adjustment they go from very compliant (that is what makes the RS double such an awesome rain damper), to responsive (connected feeling, not harsh), to more stiffness than you need. Very few dampers really cover this range both fully and successfully.
