9500ix.......Not as effective in SoCal as a V1?
My bro, who is based in New Jersey, swears by the Passport 9500ix. I've had one for almost a month and the damn thing never goes off - cops hiding behind buildings, down the orad, on the highway, etc....I don't get it.
Do cops here just use instant on or something? Anyone want to chime in? I have a 45 day return policy on my Passport. Thanks Forum!

I think many times cops do not have radar on. They just park as a deterrent to speeders.

My V1 goes off all the time. Most times there are no cops, but at least I know it's working. I kept thinking about trying out the Passport but with 3 other V1s in my arsenal, it was hard to change up.

My 9500ix has saved me numerous times. As AMPowerJ mentioned, a lot of cops don't have their radars turned on, so that may be why yours isn't going off.
Also, you may want to check how your radar is mounted. If it's tilted wrong, that may be another reason why you're not getting radar hits. I chose the 9500ix because I knew it didn't go off as much as the V1. |

Ironically, I switched from a V1 to a 9500XI and I doubt I'll ever go back
I had the V1 for about 5 years... I swore by it...but then it wasn't really picking up cops (especially while driving to the track on the 14), while my friend's XI would I did the switch, and I pick up the cops no problem

I heard similar stories from V1 to 9500ix converts, no problems, better range, etc. I've had great results in my area with the 9500ix. I do think cops simply sometimes don't have radar on and therefore the RD can't pick it up. This has happened to me a couple times here and there in more densely populated areas (where I wouldn't speed anyways).

Depending on what area of SoCal, but in metro areas like SD or LA/OC, I would prefer the 9500 because it's better at filtering out false reads. For doing 100 on the interstate however, nothing beats the V1

Escort FTW... but i'm bias cause that's all i have. although i do like the fact that V1 tells you where the signal is coming from.
