Vet gets face broken on Pearl Harbor Day for vandalizing Japanese car
WTF!
Vid in link as well. http://jalopnik.com/5866176/vet-gets...g-japanese-car ![]() Just when you thought no one was celebrating or remembering the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, there's this: a Navy veteran spray-painting "12-7 USN" on a Japanese car, like a racist jerk, and then two young men beating the crap out of him on camera, like roid-raging jerks. America! Let's start with the original offense, because chronological is the only way to deal with this. Moral? No way. It's a club sandwich of horrible where the bacon is jingoism, the turkey is violence towards a veteran, and the bread is just good old-fashioned white bread intolerance. Apparently, inspired by Pearl Harbor, an older man goes too far, spray painting the anniversary of the day that would live in infamy on a Mitsubishi Evo and was caught. He also, according to the victim of the vandalism, shouted racial epithets at them. Horrible. No doubt. And then you hear that the guy is a Navy veteran, which is no excuse, and you hear from the guys involved that they broke his nose, leg, and called the cops on him. Harsh, but, you know, people don't like to have their cars screwed with. And then you watch the extremely disturbing video of the aftermath, where the veteran seems to show some contrition and agrees to pay for the damages and doesn't seem violent at all while the car owner and his buddy parade around calling him "a ******" and "a bitch" as he bleeds sitting in his car. I sort of want to believe this video is fake, because only someone who truly hates America would do either of these things, let alone let both happen at the same time. |

![]() Anyway, you never know, Veterans need a lot of help getting back into life after service, issues are long term, alcoholism, drug abuse and mental issues, sustaining a job or being market competitive are sometimes difficult hurdles. The Veteran situation is a difficult one to tackle, the VA certainly can do better in some respects, in others respects organizations like WWproject and a community approach has been great. Not 100% sure that my post is relevant to the topic, but certainly am familiar with veteran affairs and issues. If a Veteran sprayed my car I would certainly be upset, but most likely that person has significant mental issues and needs help. |

I feel strangely bad for the veteran. Sure, you don't mess with another man's car but jeez, these guys went WAY overboard. At the end of the day, it's just a car.
It's ironic to me that they are yelling at him about how he will be going to prison when the vet committed a simple misdemeanor while they committed violent felonies. Who's gonna be in jail longer? The vet appears to be the calm on in the situation and offered to man up to what he did. |

According the "Google", Yes Mitsubishi was the manufacturer of "Zero" ... so what?
The old dude vandalized, got his ass kicked, rightly so, thats the end of it. The asian overkilled it with name calling, threats, and stupid remarks. Moral: should not have vandalized another dude's car. |

Feel bad for the old dude and he probably has been through some hard times and/or needs more support, but at the same time what kind of reaction could he have expected from spray painting someone's car.

no excuse for what he did, unless it was mental illness.
what does the owner of that car, who paid hard earned money to buy and mod his car, have to do with the events at Pearl Harbor more than half a century ago? |

Loved the sarcastic comment from Party-vi. Although the vet deserved to be punished in some ways, the kind of beating he sustained is undeserved when alternate solutions were clearly available. I understand however the frustration that the car owner went through.

They both go to jail.. One for vandalism, the other for aggravated assault, vigiliantiism, and threatening to murder.
It would have been a hate crime if the racism were funneled towards a person, not a car. ..and personally, I think the kid is far worse than the vandal. |
