Newbie Question regarding Itunes

Hi
I've got a new E92 M3 coming next week with USB interface / bluetooth / professional sat nav etc.
Can anyone explain what the USB interface actually is?
Is that so that I can plug an Iphone in, or can I actually use a USB stick with music on, and if so will the car play / display / let me select songs if they are straight from the iTunes library?
I ask because I had an Audi before and via the iPod you could only see track 1, track 2 etc, whereas if you put music in MP3 format on the SD cards you could see all the songs.
Thanks for any advice
Mark

My 335i had a usb port and I put a bunch of songs on the usb and plugged it into the port, you can see all the artists, albums, songs on the display and choose which one you want. I assume m3 and 335i had the same system
