Kinda dumb question considering I've had a V1 for over 10 years, but....

I just upgraded to the newest firmware/software and decided to mount it above the rear view mirror (saw this in other e92s), but was wondering if the roof of the coupe, as it slopes down towards the rear blocks the rear radar sensor on the V1?

I have always kept it mounted slightly below the rear view mirror (in the middle of the windshield) as it seems to be completely unobstructed towards the front and rear, but where is the best place?

[and to answer the thread, yes I love the v1 and am really excited for the newest traffic update software]

I need to do that... Did you tap into anywhere in particular in the fuse box?

best radar detector ever - i've had it for 6 years and still running strong.

Has saved me countless times. I've considered buying one for each car but I'm too cheap

Keep it mounted high up.

Love my V1...took it off my E46 and just hardwired it to my E90. Biggest difference was that it took twice as long to get the light fixture panel down..what a PITA!!

Have it on the top of the windshield to the left of the rear view mirror..very clean and glad to have it up and running again.

The really cool thing about the Passport is that it locks out false signals through the GPS, after three falses in the same place. I didn't realize just how many false signals it locks out until taking a trip out of town into new territory. At home it runs less than one false for every real signal. And great range front and back.

I do miss the arrows, but like the Passport better.

Cheers
I don't know if that would be a strength or a weakness. If I were a traffic enforcement cop, I'd run a radar detector and see what areas false, and I'd enforce in that area. My reasoning would be that most people driving w/detectors that frequent that stretch of road would be accustomed to the false reading, and simply ignore it. If enforcement ever adopted this methodology (who says some haven't?), your detector is potentially making you a sitting duck. Just saying....

LOL - same experience here.

In the E46, I had the remote display in the ashtray. It took me about 3 months to stop looking down when the detector went off.
