I believe all trucks and SUVs are currently exempt from a GGT but that's supposed to change in the near future.

Solution to M3 GGT: Increase weight to make it eligible for "weight based exemption".

Mercedes is closer to the mark than BMW.

heh, a friend of mine was a congressman when they passed the guzzler tax. (yep, he was one of the sponsors) The idea was, the AGI (income) of those who drove passenger cars with low fuel economy was considerably higher than those who drove trucks with the same or lower fuel economy. So basically it was a money grab that had nothing to do with resource preservation. (global warming was not even a topic when they passed it) They also used to throw a "luxury tax" on the same cars just to make sure that we "pay our fair share".

So, I dutifully paid my GGT last month! Just another $1500 that won't go into the local economy!!!

i think the truck excemption thing was mainly due to protecting the american car makers
since trucks is their strongpoint, and where they make most of their money
they get the excemption

Thats what I was thinking.....go the whole hogg........ make it bigger, heavier, more powerful like with a V10 or a V12 and sell it as an independant model -- call it the "M3 - GT without the GGT" ...............

I am just kidddiiinnnngggggg ....... so please no flames.........
