That is seriously cool.

Can the "curb monitor" (passenger mirror tilts down in reverse) be coded for cars without the feature - I guess it's part of the premium package - or is this dependent on extra hardware?

Thanks

Pretty sure that's standard -- you just need to (somewhat counterintuitively) have the mirror control switch set to the driver's side. Tilting mirrors isn't the same as folding mirrors, the latter of which is in the Premium package.

I've since found this post that says this feature was dropped around 2011 for cars without the Premium Package (where manual seats also be came standard) and cannot be coded as it is hardware dependent.

If the mirrors can still tilt, that seems like an artificial limitation to force people to get extra options.

EDIT: Seems this function is tied to the module that controls power seats, so if your 2011.5 M3 has manual seats that module is missing. Lame.

Same issue here - my wife's 328ix has manual seats and the mirror doesn't tilt as a result. Really pathetic considering all the sub 45k cars that come standard with this now. I was also wondering if I could code this on her car.

Wish you were local... If there is a local car that comes to me without the tiliting function, I'll figure out how to add it and then can send you the remote kit to fix that on your wifes car

do the AE's dim when the xenons are activated? Or are you able to code that out as well/keep the AE's from dimming with xenons on

No dimming whatsoever. In fact, they get brighter when you turn the headlights on

Hey Mike!

I'll be in touch soon - still waiting for our '12 e92 M3 to get released from the VPC (it's been there for a month - damn EPA!) so we can get the multi car discount. It looks like you've been busy and found another thing to code!

Sounds good! I hope they take good care of her pre delivery

To everyone that has emailed / called me and hasn't received a response in the last week - please accept my apologies for the delay.

I came down with a cold last thursday and it put me down for a few days. Playing catchup is taking longer than expected. If you don't receive a response by Monday at the latest, please contact me again. I will do my best to reply to everyone tomorrow. Some exciting things are comming up, but I want to make sure they work perfectly before I make the announcement.

I've received a number of requests for M Button features (MDM and tighter steering) on non-equipped cars. I will work on that when I have time, and will need a 2011 car without those features for development. If you are local and want to partake in this, please let me know via email.

Also, new BMW software revisions (for DCT cars) force you to have your seatbelt on, or the car will not engage gear. There is one other change that it made was forcing the car to go into neutral if the door is opened (even at very low speeds). I will be working on that as well once I get a car with the newer software. I should be able to revert back and remove those annoyances.

I am still about 30 emails behind, sorry for the delay. If you've emailed me please expect a response by Friday, as I've reached my work load for the day and tomorrow is booked solid.

Thanks for your patience. There will be a remote coding solution which doesn't involve sending you anything but a flashdrive and cable which will be available in the semi-near future.

Mike

Will be seeking beta testers for the flash drive coding solution. The two cars I pick will get special pricing. Should be ready end of the week, time permitting.

It's an easy process:
1) I send you a flash drive or CD
2) You boot your laptop to the flashdrive/CD
3) Plug the cable I send you into the car (you can purchase the cable or return it)
4) Put your laptop on your wireless network
5) I remote in and do the rest, about 30 minutes later the car will be coded as per your specification.
6) You return (or keep) the cable and flash drive depending on what was previously arranged.

Final step is enjoying the new functionality

This sounds really great. I'm getting so tired of the car "gonging" at me for stupid things like backing up and going from reverse to forward as well as the new programming which does not allow you to drive 10' without the seatbelt or the door open.

So many features or tweaks that sound great so I've definitely subscribed to this thread.

Now, one other feature I have not seen discussed yet(may be because it is not controlled by the modules you can access, but not sure..) is the one related to the frequencies our radios here in the US can access (ie, only number with odd decimals) vs. the EU set-up that gives you access to all frequencies (I hope I explained this well).

Is this something you can tweak?

(oh my, my wish list would only get longer....)

I want to tell you all how great Mike was to me. I decided to get coding done on my car, a good amount of things and Mike gave me a reasonable price and even threw in a few extras while he was coding for me. Now this is where Mike gets great, we ran into a problem while coding, High Battery Drain and everything went into a halt, my HID angel eyes stop working and the windows would too. So we had to end it there and get the car some charging time.

This is two hrs later we gave it another shot, the angel eyes still not working and the windows were now but NOW the driver side window wouldnt roll all the way up, it would keep coming back down half way. Mike was very very patient and there was a time where we both were getting frustrated, yet everything maintained professional. We couldnt figure it out and it was decided the battery voltage was either the cause or i needed to go visit the dealer. YEA sucks i KNOW!.

Half hr later i realized their was tint glue on the bottom portion of the window and once i removed most it, BAM! the window worked perfectly. Now at this time Mike coded my car back to STOCK! to relieve these errors, so WE did it AGAIN! Yes he is PATIENT!. This time no problem coding everything all over took no more than half an hour TOPS. My angel eyes were acting funny because the battery was so low and the HID wouldn't fire up, After a good charge now there back to being bright and no errors. Everything works just like it should, now just waiting for my LCI tails to come in.

This process took a WHOLE day when all that was needed was half an hr and a good charge on a battery. Needless to say if anyone that wants to get coding done, DO IT with Mike, hes very helpful and patient even when his neighbors where rumbling his walls with their huge ass subwoofers hahaa. Thanks Mike for coding my car and being helpful when it was needed.

Questions that were unanswered:

From David7: Can the "curb monitor" (passenger mirror tilts down in reverse) be coded for cars without the feature - I guess it's part of the premium package - or is this dependent on extra hardware?

Should be able to get that working for you, even without premium package

MTROIS: Yes, we can change the frequency step so you can tune the other Frequencies as used in the EU
