Water the mufflers

Let me start by telling you, i have highflow cats, magnaflow resonators and magnaflow exhaust. It sounds good and not to loud. So few days ago i go start my car and it sounds a little louder. Didnt think much of it just kept driving. Finally by the time it warms up i jump on it and OMFG.... It is SO SO loud. I was like wtf. Well turns out my little cousins thought it would be fun to put the water hose in my mufflers and let the water run. After a few days its back to normal but i was curious if anyone else has tried wetting the mufflers to get louder.

this is interesting... id like to know what others have to say...

im guessing that the isolation inside the muffler got so wet that it did not muffle the sound quite well since it was soak and wet...

Why not use an aqua globe so you don't have to water it every day?

Mositure is not going to be good for the internals, no matter how corrosion resistant the material may be. Aside from that, you're putting hard water into it, and might end up with deposists that will remain inside the muffler as well. I don't think it's major damage (or even really significant), but I suppose there is a risk that it could be.

Water degrades the fiberglass packing that's inside the muffler. This in turn lowers the packing's ability to muffle the sound.People sometimes do this intentionally to get a louder sounding exhaust.Unfortunately there is no turning back.Once the fiberglass is destroyed, the muffler has to be repacked to lower exhaust DB's.This is why they sell exhaust plugs for bikes. You plug the exhaust to prevent water from getting in during a wash.
