Taken to the cleaners by Rennspec?

Hi guys

Is Renn-Spec still in business? I hope I haven’t been taken for a ride. This whole thing started after ordering some parts from them. Long story short, Simon from Renn-Spec agreed to cover the cost of repainting a OEM pre-painted bumper for my AW e92 that was way off…. not even close in color! It’s a long story but basically I was sent a BMW OEM pre-painted AW bumper from Germany that was WAY off in color. So after talking with Simon and agreeing to have a local shop repaint it and having him cover the cost I went ahead and had it painted under the understanding that he will do good on his word. I trusted he would since he was working with me all along. Well it didn’t turn out this way. I haven’t heard from him since. Now I’m stuck with a bill which I can barely afford because of all of the flooding damage to my house from Hurricane Irene.

I’ve called and left messages and sent a number of emails for over two months and have got no response. He was helpful all alone with this whole debacle of a story and then disappeared last minute. Now I’m stuck having paid out of the WAZZO for this bumper to begin with and I’m paying even more now! This is sad and depressing. Before I jump to conclusions, are they still in business?

I believe they are... I've dealt with Simon numerous times, and he's always been great. I would give him the benefit of the doubt...keep trying.

ive dealt with Simon on numerous occasions...with the most recent transaction occurring about 6-7 weeks ago...ive met him in person, he seems like a great guy...he's always delivered on his promise to me and has always called me personally to follow up on anything that i purchased from him or had him do....i couldnt imagine him being shady...when was the last time you made contact? i know he goes to HK like every 3 weeks for business dealings so maybe he's just out of the country?

2 months is unacceptable, regardless of reputation. Hope they come through for you. I wonder if insurance would cover such a thing.

Yes, I agree. I think two months is a bit excessive in terms of acceptable time to respond but it is what it is. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt but my intuition tells me otherwise and it sounds like he…..we’ll I’ll hold off on any comments here and let him hopefully respond. I’m giving him another opportunity since he was very helpful to this point.

“The Tech” , that is the same thing I get when I call. The odd thing is our communications went from pretty good to…….dead, gone, nothing haven’t heard a peep from him or even anyone when I call….no-one picks up. I know that he does travel out of country and stuff which is fine but at least an acknowledgment would be nice. I know he’s been trying to rebuild his reputable after having some of his employees run his place down (which I was unfortunately the bad recipient of in this) but this isn’t helping the cause.

Last I tried contacting him was last week by trying to call him on different days at all different times which is why I’m asking if he is even still in business. It’s been frustrating to say the least.

Have you tried calling from another number in case he is screening his calls?

If you want, I can try to pass by there sometime next week and see if they are in business still.

They arent there anymore...they moved..last i saw, when i went there a few weeks ago, everything was packed up and gone..sign gone too...i know he was moving..where, im not sure

Didn't this happen with some other company here on the forum?

They "moved" or something and didn't let any of their customers know, and people were asking and trying to contact them and no one could?

I mean yea I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but that is just piss poor business... If you're moving, and in contact with customers, at least WARN them that you might be out of the loop for a while during the move, and you'll contact them again as soon as possible. I guess that's just me...

dont worry too much.

they are around and simon is a trust worthy guy. i've dealt with him on numerous occasions.

Regardless, they should still be in contact with you regarding this matter.

hope this issue you have could be resolved soon...I don't know much about them. But I have friends who purchase a lot of stuffs from them. And it turned out well. Hopefully he will be able to get back you, after he come back to the country.

AW on a 2007 car and AW on a 2011 car will be different

at the meet last night, we had 6 AW cars, and neither of them looked the same

You never want to order pre-painted. Ever.
